Air travel often comes with its share of surprises, but passengers on a recent Southwest flight experienced an unusual disruption before takeoff.

Southwest Airlines apologised to the passengers for the 'bizarre disruption' and assured them that local law enforcement had met Flight 733 upon its return to the gate due to the 'customer situation onboard.'

The airline also contacted customers to apologise for the delay and express appreciation for their patience as efforts were made to resume their travel plans as quickly as possible.

Footage of the incident, which has since been shared widely, captures the woman shouting 'Wait, wait, wait' as she paced the aisle.

According to reports, she also claimed to be bipolar and demanded to be let off the aircraft during her stunt.

The situation was undoubtedly distressing for passengers, with one recalling to KHOU11 how the woman 'turned around facing us and stripped all of her clothes off' before proceeding to bang on the cockpit doors.

In the face of such an unusual and potentially threatening situation, experts advised passengers to remain calm, distance themselves from the unruly individual, and only intervene if necessary or instructed by the flight crew.


However, one passenger expressed surprise at the apparent lack of immediate intervention from staff or authorities as the woman's outburst continued.

The incident raises questions about how airlines handle disruptive behaviour and the protocols in place to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
