Chalk

Annie Dunphy‎ sent me this photo a couple of years ago now: “Nothing like a fresh piece of coloured chalk to start your day... I bought this box at an auction.” Thanks Annie. School chalk, I’m sure teachers had a box of coloured chalk in their desks, but we mainly saw the white chalk. Leonie Lyons commented; “Use to love going to school at the start of the year, freshly painted blackboards and a brand new box of chalks! Those were the days! The little things that we remember and loved.”
Before tablets and laptops (when I went to school anyway) the teacher put the assignment or equation on the old blackboard and we copied it down into our exercise book. Old school! Who Remembers?

Awww.. my nana used to buy me a box of these as a kid. I would use it to draw on cement and that's when I fell in love with art. Thanks for sharing this! It evokes wonderful memories.

Did you draw hopscotch on the concrete? I used to eat it, it was very chalky!:D
