Can this $2.25 Kmart buy transform your floor tile grout?

For some, cleaning can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to floor tiles. Not only is it time-consuming, but it can often be difficult to remove tough stains and dirt build-up, particularly when it comes to the grout between the tiles.

So, if you’re struggling to find a way to bring your flooring back to life without having to splash on professional cleaners, one Kmart fan has got you covered.

A Kmart shopper recently discovered an easy and budget-friendly way to revamp your floor tiles and get rid of the dirt and grime that’s formed in the tile grout.

Sharing on a popular Facebook group called Mums Who Clean, the savvy shopper revealed that she transformed her floor tile grout using Kmart’s Cleaning Erasers, which can be found in the store’s laundry section.

‘Just spent the morning like Cinderella cleaning the floor. Like magic, my grout is clean, and the tiles look like new again,’ the shopper wrote in her post.

According to the product description, the Cleaning Erasers – which cost $2.25 for a pack of six – are intended for laundry use. However, they have been used to solve several cleaning problems, such as removing marks from white walls or cleaning dirty sneakers.

Some of the reviews on Kmart’s website said that the black marks on their computer chairs ‘came off with ease’ as if they were only rubbing pencil marks out with an eraser.

‘I read others' reviews about this magical sponge. I bought one pack to try and had the true "wow" moment. IT CLEANS. I use it for the induction stove top, shoes and the wall! It does the magic of removing stains and dirt every time, even when I didn't think it possible,’ someone else commented.

But the homeowner instead used the eraser pads to make her floor tile grout look brand-new again.

The customer said that even though it looked like a physically-demanding cleaning job, it didn’t take her ‘that long’ to manually scrub out the dirt and grime from her floor grout. She even went on to say that it was a ‘very therapeutic’ experience.

‘Once I started, I couldn’t stop,’ she claimed before uploading the before and after photos of her floor tile grout to other Facebook users.

When asked how long the floor tile grouts stay clean, she said: ‘It will last for a while. Depends on how much dirt the dog brings in. The last time I did it was about five years ago.’

Many social media users who saw the post were amazed by the results, with others claiming that the eraser pads worked ‘like magic’.

One said: ‘Must try this, so frustrated as I’ve tried so many products.’

‘Oh wow, I’ll give it a go,’ another proclaimed.

Someone else agreed and stated: ‘Now that’s dedication! Well done.’

‘Magic Erasers are so great; they also work well on coffee-stained cups,’ one more replied.

While it is understood that Kmart’s Cleaning Erasers do work well as cleaning agents, it’s also quite laborious to manually scrub your floors all day. There are other cleaning methods you can try, just like this tip from one Woolworths shopper.

Also taking to social media, the savvy shopper shared how she used Woolworths’ Clean Ultimate Oil & Grime Stain Remover ($2.15 for a 750ml bottle) – a cleaning spray typically used for clothes – and applied it to her shower tiles.

According to the homeowner, the spray ‘magically’ transformed her mouldy, soap-scum-filled, dirty tiles back to their original shade of white in just 15 seconds. Find out how she did it here.

In another instance, another clever Woolworths customer managed to transform her stained tile grout without using a lot of products and putting in hours of scrubbing. In a post to social media, the satisfied customer said her ‘cleaning mania’ kicked in after hosting family members in their home for two weeks.

She saw how dirty her floor tiles were and got to work using Strike Pro Bath & Shower Spray Cleaner. She bought a 750ml bottle from Woolworths for only $2.60. According to the customer, the affordable spray ‘worked like magic’, and it took her ‘no effort at all’ to clean. You can read more about this story here.

Will you give this advice a go? If you have other tips and tricks for cleaning stubborn floor tile grout stains, share them in the comments below! A cheaper solution is using bi-carb soda and white vinegar and a stiff brush. Sprinkle the bi-carb onto the grout and then spray the vinegar on top, wait a minute then scrub with the brush.

Asked how long the grout will stay clean, the reply was, 'depends on how much dirt the dog brings in' then 'last time was about four or five years ago'.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could teach our dogs to wipe their feet on the mat before coming indoors? Many years ago when we were outside the home, my parents visited. As l opened the screen door & the dog was about to go in l jokingly said, 'Wipe your feet first'. Of course she ran straight inside. My mother asked if she (the dog) was supposed to wipe her feet. 😂
