Brisbane woman delivers ‘miracle baby’ after being rescued from ALARMING flood waters

The SDC’s heart goes out to everyone affected by the recent floods. With all the terrifying news and devastation that the floods have brought, we hope to take some weight off your shoulders by sharing a couple of silver linings amidst this alarming situation.

Heavily pregnant, Krystle Henry from Brisbane, made it just in time to the hospital to deliver her baby after being saved from horrifying flood waters.

The new mum was due to give birth at Mater Mothers Hospital on Monday but a day preceding the highly-anticipated event, the expecting parents found themselves in a chilling situation — trapped in their humble abode amongst rapidly rising flood waters and unable to escape to dry land.

Thankfully, real-life heroes exist. On a seemingly grim Sunday afternoon, one of their brave neighbours jumped in on the scene and rescued the couple. They were picked up by a kayak and rowed away from the worsening situation.

Krystle was then dropped off at Mater Mothers Hospital where she successfully delivered a baby boy, Angus, on a Tuesday morning. Their bundle of joy arrived safely, weighing in at 3.7 kilograms.

“I'm so glad I got to the delivery room in time!” the father, Matt, told the hospital. The new parents are hailing Angus a ‘flood baby’, saying they can’t believe that they now have both a flood and a pandemic baby after their first child, Olive, was welcomed in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Apparently, Angus isn’t the first ‘flood baby’ delivered at the hospital on that Tuesday morning.

Fellow recent parents, Felicity and Alex Jacques, also welcomed their baby boy, Andrew, just a few hours after being saved by a local SES team who brought them to safety.

Felicity and Alex were also surrounded by flood waters that rose up to the top of the traffic lights near their home, preventing them from travelling to the hospital.

“I'm so relieved he’s here. He definitely is a little miracle.” said the new mum, Felicity. Baby Andrew weighed in at 3.35 kilograms.

Mater Mothers Hospital shared the incredible story on their official Facebook account. Users congratulated both of the couples.

“Pleased to hear about the safe arrival of your beautiful little bundle of joy and happiness.” one user wrote.

“Thank goodness everyone is safe!” another said.

“Brave woman. So beautiful! I’m glad she's ok.” a third added.

This is marvellous story amidst all the trauma of the current floods (and the ongoing horror in Ukraine).

I could not help but smile at your teaser line for this article 'And finally, after sitting in a kayak in rising floodwaters, one Brisbane woman has given birth.' Taken out of the context of the list it appears in, it sounds like a new technique to help speed up labour!
