Bride's special day takes a turn for the WORSE when she makes this SHOCKING DISCOVERY!

“What was the best day of your life?”

This question is often posed to people, may it be in everyday life, or at work, and has gathered countless variations for answers. One common answer has been observed from those particularly in the older age group, especially, those with spouses i.e. their Wedding Day.

Now, the “best” day may not necessarily mean a “perfect” day. However glamorous people’s stories may be about their wedding day, there is always that possibility of anything going wrong. And since planning a wedding is no easy feat (excuse me), the more chances there are for anything to go a little astray.

This was the case for this Queensland woman, Madalyn Wise, who was midway through her first dance with her new husband, when her mother-in-law tugged her off the dancefloor.

Guests were in shock while watching the newly-wedded couple as they noticed a MASSIVE amount of blood trickling down the bride’s white dress.

At first, the bride suspected the stress and anxiety (from all the planning) getting to her, which may have caused her to get her period early, but when her mother-in-law lifted her dress, a SHOCKING discovery was made.

Behind her leg, three GIGANTIC leeches were in different parts.

‘There was one underneath my foot, one in the… armpit of my knee and there was another one crawling up my leg.’ said the bride through her viral TikTok video, ‘There was just so much blood, and it seemed like it wasn’t going to stop bleeding.’

The wedding took place at Summergrove Estate in the NSW Highlands, which had received quite a few rain showers, which they suspected was what led up to the abundance of these little bloodsuckers.

Earlier, Madalyn and her new husband, Jayden, captured their breathtaking wedding photos in a field where they trekked through long, sludgy grass, where she assumed was the location where she acquired these leeches.

It had already been three long hours since then, which eventually became the reason for the pool of blood trickling down her leg.

‘The really, really fat one was the one that was in my knee pit. And it would have been there for like three hours,’ Madalyn added. ‘The fat one that was in my video had actually filled up with blood and dropped off my leg on the dancefloor, which is why so much blood started to come out of my dress.’

Madalyn held particular praise for her wedding photographer, who took the initiative of dabbing all the bloodstains on her dress with a sponge and a mixture of water and baking soda.

While this was a shock to all the guests at their wedding, Madalyn also paid commendations to the groom, who did not leave his wife’s side, no matter how shocking, while the situation was being dealt with.

‘He stayed with me the whole time this was happening, and he was really supportive,’ she said, ‘But I’ll never forget when he first came in and saw me.’

Luckily, leech bites aren’t generally considered to be harmful. They release a pain-killing chemical whenever they latch themselves onto their hosts so that they do not feel them. Despite how painless their bite can be, it can be a bit itchy upon removal.

Among the people at the wedding, Madalyn was the only one who experienced a leech attack, and none of the other guests, friends, or family, were affected by these blood-suckers.

The bride, who currently has about 13,100 followers on TikTok, posted a narration of the entire ordeal on TikTok which warranted a variety of responses among her followers, ranging from fear to concern.

‘THREE? MAAM IS YOUR LEG OKAY *crying emoji*’ said one of her followers. ‘Do you not need to get medical attention? I’d be in a panic.’ said another.

Others expressed the general fear of Australia, saying that given this new occurrence, they’d tread lightly when considering visiting or relocating to the country.

‘Australia looks beautiful but it’s things like this that make me not want to go,’ commented another one of her followers, ‘Haha, never visiting Australia without a biohazard suit.’

‘Now, the leech is family and must be invited to all your anniversary celebrations.’ one commenter said, trying to lighten up the mood in the comments.

Madalyn, however, said that the ordeal didn’t really ruin their wedding and that once her leg was bandaged, she continued on as if it hadn’t happened and the consequences didn’t really hit her until the following day.

While leeches can instil quite a lot of fear in what they do, they can actually be beneficial in helping out with hypertension! Know more about it in this link.

Look, I’m sorry (not sorry) I get so annoyed when it comes to things like this, but what is wrong with people? As a kid growing up in the country, if we weren’t pulling leeches off, we were checking each other for ticks.

It’s a symptom of how much people have grown away from nature. It’s a shame.

@Joydie I couldn't agree more! As someone who grew up part time in the country (it's a long story, broken family etc.) it was completely normal to pull leaches off of us after playing around all day! Never hurt anyone, so long as you catch them (which it's hard not too) and get them off, you'll be fine!

I grew up on a farm in the south west of Western Australia, our farm was on the edge of a swamp and we would go swimming in the dam every summer, I was lucky to have never had a leech on me, my sister however had one on her and it left a huge scar, I on the other hand did step on a few tiger snakes and lived to tell the tale, one time i was helping my father move irrigation pipes in the summer potato crop and I stepped on one, soon put my boots back on.

My kids were leech magnets growing up. We were always pulling the little buggers off them. No ill effects though.;)

It’s not just in Australia that we get leeches. They’re certainly found in the UK and no doubt in other parts of the world too. Still, they give me the creeps and it’s not something you want to happen on your wedding day.
