Book recommendations

Hey everyone! Let's talk books!

I’m on the hunt for some great reads, and I want to hear about your favourites. Whether it’s a classic, a hidden gem, or something you just couldn’t put down, share your recommendations below!

Just to kick things off, one of my all-time favourites is 1984 by George Orwell. It’s a gripping story that really makes you think about society and freedom.

I’d love to hear what books have left a lasting impression on you! So, what’s your go-to book? Drop your suggestions!

Cheers!
Blue

I am also an avid reader and have just finished two fabulous books. One is entitled 'Wifedom by Australian author Anna Funder, and the other is 'Becoming Mrs Mulberry' by Jackie French.

As a co author, I am about the release ne new book, Up From the Paddies, true life stories of a Vietnamese man. We are willing to offer 25 people a FREE prerelease copy of the book and would love to get their reviews. These are stories of family, adventure, food and a changing culture of a society in post war VN. [email protected]

As an avid reader, I would be so totally lost without a book or two around me. Too many great reads to mention, so just of late, two memorable titles (possibly more suited to female readers) that I thoroughly enjoyed were
THE WOMEN BY KRISTIN HANNAH
THE HIDDEN GIRL BY LUCINDA RILEY( HARRY WHITTAKER)
Happy days!

I haven’t long finished Killers Of The Flower Moon & found it absolutely riveting. Leonardo DiCaprio made the movie of the same name but I haven’t watched it yet. I have so many books to read both on my bookshelf & Ereader but I plan on spending a lot of time reading during my six weeks in Perth, I can’t wait, imagine having do nothing but wander around sightseeing, maybe a bit of cooking & reading. My boy has a cleaner so no housework. It will be bliss!

l haven't read the book but l have seen the movie ''1984'' John Hurt Richard Burton years ago. What a horrible movie and scary to think it is now reflecting whats happening today.l love dystopian books but not too far fetched.l think the series ''The Handmade Tales'' Elizabeth Moss was from a book first l could be wrong.

This is absolutely nothing to do with books but don't know how to otherwise connect with BARBARA AND WISH HER A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY WITH MANY MORE TO COME. HAVE A GREAT DAY LOVE AND ALL THE BEST TO YOU.
Wish SDC would sort this out.

I love reading, and refuse to give up on a book. However, this current novel has taken me, without exaggerating, at least 18 months and I'm just over half way through. It's torture!!
I actually can't wait to finish it so I can move on.. lol

I remember when "1984" first was published the date seemed a long way off to me. Now it seems a long way back!!
I love reading and actually went to the library this morning to get four more books to read. The authors I really like are Lisa Scottoline, Nicholas Sparks, David Baldacci and Nora Roberts, amongst others. I have always been an avid reader since childhood as this is my way of shutting out the world when I have a problem.

One of my favourite books is one I read years ago, it's called Mallawindy by Joy Dettman and is the first novel in the series.
It's fasinating, it's Australian and about a girl, Ann Burton, who was born on a river bank the night her father tried to burn their house down.
Six years later her sister Liza disappears while they are staying at their uncle's property. What Ann sees that day robs her of her memory and her speech.
Ann escapes her anguished childhood, finding love and a new life away from Mallawindy.
But there is no escape from the Burton family and its dark secrets.
Ann must return to Mallawindy and confront the past if she is ever to be free.

There is a huge twist near the end between the uncle and her father, I was shocked!

What is the books title anneh.63? Would be interesting to know if any of us have read it. I love historical fiction & once read a new author’s book set in Tasmania. I found it to be absolutely terrible but the reviews were amazing & the author won a prize for her work so I loaned it to a few of my friends who were of the same opinion. Two of them read three chapters & gave up, another one struggled on but ended up reading the first couple of chapters, the middle to see if it improved & the end to see if it made sense, it didn’t. We all concluded that it was the most confusing book ever written.

It's called Bridge of Clay by Marcus Zusak. I'm sticking with it as I know he is an acclaimed author and The Book Thief was pretty successful. Maybe because I've read it sporadically that I'm finding it tough going.
