Billionaire gives away $150,000 groceries to Aussies: ‘It’s the least we can do’

Many are feeling the pinch with the cost of living soaring and the festive season just around the corner.

But with times tougher than ever and wallets stretched thin, stories of goodwill shine brighter than ever.

A billionaire's heartwarming act of generosity has left Sydney residents stunned and grateful.

Adrian Portelli, known for his high-profile bidding on The Block, has taken philanthropy to the streets with a massive $150,000 grocery giveaway.

The event, which took place at supermarkets in Penrith and Fairfield West, saw a staggering number of people flock to the venues, with some dedicated individuals lining up as early as 4 A.M.

The first giveaway kicked off at 9:30 A.M.. at the Coles connected to Nepean Village on Reserve Street, Penrith, and the crowd swelled to an impressive size.

Adrian Portelli, a promotions guru and property investor, is no stranger to charitable acts, having conducted similar giveaways in multiple states.

'We don't contact the media, we just come out here,' he said.

'We've been doing this for a long time. We've done it in multiple states, so it's the least we can do if we can get out there and share.'

The scene at the supermarket was one of controlled chaos, with police and extra security on hand to ensure the event ran smoothly.

The anticipation was palpable as the crowd waited for the chance to receive a portion of the generous donation.

The giveaway then moved on to the Coles on Hamilton Road at Fairfield West at noon, where thousands more were expected to gather.

NSW Police, aware of the event, kept a watchful eye, ensuring public safety amidst the excitement.

Portelli, the founder of the auto enthusiast club LMCT+, has been making headlines not only for his business acumen but also for his willingness to give back to the community.

This wasn’t the first time he did a giveaway. Last month, Portelli handed out thousands of dollars worth of Coles vouchers to shoppers in Adelaide.

The giveaway occurred by giving shoppers $100 and $200 vouchers at Coles Munno Para and Port Adelaide.

He also donated 250 supermarket vouchers to families in Taylors Hill in Victoria, where he grew up and experienced financial hardship himself.

He would have been better off donating to a large charity that would help truly needy people that are living on the street. People turned up in their big flash cars to grab $100. Give me strength. Many walked straight into the bottle shop.

But hopefully across all the states and various supermarkets many needy people also received vouchers which will help them. People who don't really need help go to charities. There are always people looking for handouts who just don't need it.

I think that was super nice of him, but I agree with ClancyBlue, he would have been better off donating to charities or making sure homeless people could benefit from his help. We have families living in tents that would have loved a little Christmas cheer.

Perhaps he did that as well (clancieblue) Happy Christmas 🎄

He was on the news last night and is under investigation for something or rather in his lotteries. Didn't quite get the gist of it as it was the tail end but interesting after just being in the news for this doing good and now supposedly something illegal.
