Bid adieu to foul odours for good! The TOP tips for a heavenly scented home
- Replies 2
One of the SDC’s favourite cleaning gurus is back at it again with a new batch of easy and budget-friendly tips that will leave your home smelling amazing. All you need is a few common items that you may already have at home.
Chantel Mila, more popularly known as Mama Mila, demonstrated how to banish musty odours typically coming from the kitchen and garden after heavy demand from her followers. The cleaning queen came up with three easy tips using only lemons, coffee beans, vanilla, and essential oils.
Lemony fresh
To kick things off, Chantel places several pieces of sliced lemons in a glass container and pours water over them. Then, she pops the container in the oven for twenty minutes to eliminate stinky food odours in the kitchen.
Cafe aroma
The next hack will leave any home smelling like your favourite cafe in a breeze! The super mum starts by simmering coffee beans and a teaspoon of vanilla extract in a pot filled with boiling water to achieve the classic 'cosy cafe' scent.
If you don’t want to throw away the coffee beans after this hack, you may opt to use the mixture for iced coffee to minimise waste.

‘You can definitely drink it afterwards as coffee or use it to make iced coffee! Alternatively, you can opt to use coffee grounds instead of beans to simmer.’ she wrote.
Fresh cushions
Last but not the least, she shared a brilliant way to wash cushion covers.
'I wash my cushion covers with baking soda and essential oils to keep them smelling fresh for longer.’ she said.
With a few drops of essential oils instead of ingredients like lemon and coffee, the tip also provides you with another delightful scent. It’s perfect for those who are fans of floral notes!
Thousands of her followers approved of the tips, with one saying: ‘You have the best tips on TikTok!’

Bonus tip: scratchless stovetop and oven
The home hacks guru also shared a foolproof way to clean your stovetop and oven and prevent scratches in a different TikTok video.
She combines a cup of baking soda with a quarter of a cup of dishwashing liquid and a dash of water to make a cleaning paste.
Then, she applies the solution to an oven as well as the stovetop, using a paintbrush to spread the mixture evenly before leaving it to sit for two hours.
'The mix does the hard work of breaking down the grime and grease,’ she said. 'Wipe the suds off to reveal your shining oven and stove!'
Mila told her fans that the longer they leave the paste, the better it works. She also suggested they try to leave it on overnight for even more incredible results.

The cleaning hack has amassed over 800,000 views in the span of 24 hours, with hundreds expressing how keen they are to give it a shot.
'Amazing, looks like a really thorough clean!’ one woman gushed.
'You make cleaning look fun. Haha!’ chimed another.
'This looks like a safer option than oven cleaners packed with toxic chemicals.’ a third said.
