Bi-Lo Supermarkets

Who remembers Bi-Lo? That familiar yellow and red sign, the no-fuss aisles, and the trusty ‘Why Pay More!’ slogan made it a staple for so many Aussie families. Whether it was part of the weekly shop or a quick dash in for dinner essentials, Bi-Lo always felt like the budget-friendly neighbour you could rely on.

First opened in 1979 and around right up until 2017, it was the place where every dollar counted. Did you have a Bi-Lo in your area? What do you remember picking up from there? We’d love to hear your stories!

BiLo used to have Oil of Bi Lo it was a cheap version of Oil of Olay. It was a lovely pink lotion and it worked just as well as Olay. My son still talks about the frozen burger patties that BiLo had they were huge and tasted delicious.

Near my first home there was a Bi Lo as well as a Barry & Roberts shop close to us. We were able, in those days, to ‘shop around’ for the specials at many of the supermarkets - not now as 3 or 4 of the big supermarkets dominate.
