With respect Bruce C: Please don't slap every " innocent victim " of sneaky, ridgee didge looking scams regardless of type, with the same " idiot " paint brush. Are you so naive to believe ordinary folk are " so stupid " & deserve being fleeced? No !! They deserve neither, in fact far from it! The " thing " you so glaringly fail to mention, is just how diabolically insidious scammers are. They do it because they know full well, that even if just 1% of their " target audience " fall for it, the scammersOnce again!
If you click on any link without first checking with the relevant identity then you are a bloody idiot and deserve to lose everything you have.,

many X over. Are you so " perfect ", that you yourself have ( never ) been scammed? So therefore: your prideful quip . . . . . is moot!
I agree completely, even some of the most tech savvy people have been caught out by scammers. Not everyone who gets caught by scammers is a complete idiot and even if they are, they certainly do not deserve to be scammed no matter how Nieve they are. With respect Bruce C: Please don't slap every " innocent victim " of sneaky, ridgee didge looking scams regardless of type, with the same " idiot " paint brush. I agree with you - there is little harm done by warning us of all the various methods scammers are using now. It is probably difficult for an innocent victim to understand what is a scam and what is genuine and some on their own (especially women) feel frightened when they are threatened that something bad will happen to them if they don’t co-operate. I do believe that it is also a case of check first, don’t respond and if you do respond without getting assistance from a knowledgeable person or a family member then it is your fault. This message is being sent in passive voice with the assistance of Siri. I agree with you one hundred percent. Mr. Perfect will one day fall victim after all his precautions. One day caught unaware, in a rush, busy day, expecting an urgent message, not thinking straight or just having a lot of things on your mind. It happens to us all and these are times and days the scammers hope for when you get a scam phone call, message or email. I do not wish anyone to become a victim of a scammer. However, I would make one exception just to teach Mr. Perfect a lesson.Well said!
No I disagree with you. Just because someone is not thinking straight does not mean they deserve being scammed and they certainly do not deserve to lose everything. Scammers are nothing more than thieves, so by your logic, it is ok to steal as long as it is from vulnerable people. Does that make it ok "NO".No my friend, I have never been scammed!
That is because I DO NOT & WILL NEVER click on any link no matter how authentic it looks before I first check with the relevent company..
If I cannot get confirmation i then forward the text or email to scam watch.
You don’t even need to have any intelligence to do this.
Just a bit of plain and simple discipline.
And as I have said many many times before if people do click on these links and hand over personal details then they are idiots who deserve to lose all they have!
Sorry @EllenM I don’t enter these competitionsHey Bruce, given your aversion to clicking on any link ‘no matter how authentic it looks’ can you put me forward as your proxy should you win SDC Bingo and any other SDC competitions?
Not at all OK to steal and I hate those scumbags! No I disagree with you.
