BEWARE BEWARE SCAMMER CHARITY COLLECTOR

Last week I had a knock at the door. It was a young lady holding a phone up . She then went on to say that she was collecting donations for disabled children in the area.
Something seamed off. I then told her I already donate to Autism Australia.

My daughter was on the phone and I told her I was sure it was a scam.

Then today another daughter sent me a picture and told me to BEWARE of this women.

She says she is collecting donations for children with disabilities in the area.
Apparently she films with her phone . Once she gets into conversation with the person she the ask unusual questions eg who lives there, what are the neighbours like ? Do they have dogs ect

She has been attacking the Canterbury and st George area. And who knows where else.

Do Not open to her and if approached do not get into conversation

I am sure these days that charities DO NOT door knock. However, it is so easy to engage with these lowlife scammers when you are alone and vulnerable and may be the only time that week you get to speak to someone. We just have to be mindful all the time.

Is someone filming/photographing your property without permission breaching privacy law and thus open to Citizen's arrest? Or simply call the police, if they are interested in such pre-burglary activities?

Usually charity collectors wear a lanyard with identification. Red flags holding up a phone in your direction. I have a rule l can see who is at the front door if l don't know the person l don't open the door. Also l have a security door that l can see out of but you can't see in. So if it's a nice day and l have the front door open l won't unlock the security door. I will just talk through it and politely send the person on their way. It's dreadful people use disabled children to pull at our heart strings to steal money to possibly feed a drug habit.
Please be aware.
Kind regards to all Vicki

Hahaha. If we need to call the police they usually have to travel 45kms or more from the next town if you are lucky enough that they are available. Otherwise the call goes to the next station on-call which is about 2.5hrs drive away. By then the scammer has got the msg & left the area.

You call the police and they come 1 hour later .Last Friday I heard sirens several times and they seemed to be close to my house. So out the front I go there were 11 cops with marked ans and sedans there was the rescue squad fire brigade and one unmarked police car.I had to find out what was happening I approached my neighbour and asked her was everyone OK why all these services She informed me that her 6 month ear old puppy was stuck under the seat of her car. All those services talking up out little street and where is a cop when you need one What a waste of man power M you neighbour was clearly embarrassed.

Don't know about politely sending them on their way. They don't deserve politeness. I'm not normally rude but they can turn you rude because asking those questions deserve a rude answer or no answer at all
