Remember Bernard King? One of Australia’s first TV chefs, he made cooking entertaining long before celebrity chefs were a thing. From his show King’s Kitchen to live demos and his own spice range, he was everywhere in the ‘80s. Who remembers watching him in action? Share your memories here.

I remember my grandfather telling me he used to watch it for ideas, until one day bernard wiped his nose with the back of his hand and then kept on cooking without washing it, that was it for grandad:):)

I attended a Bernard cooking show at Wyoming Shopping Centre. He used a bit of alcohol in one dish and at the end he gave the rest of the bourbon bottle to me. He was quite a character

A man of refinement and could strip the skin off you with sarcasm. Met him while I was on a show , delightful man happy to chat to a troupe of star struck ladies. His cooking shows were ahead of his time and anyone going on to the talent show he was one of the judges, you had better be good or you would never perform again, honesty was definitely his policy. A cooking show set chadstone saw him spot my tiny daughter clapping her hands at his efforts,on the mike he asked her name and said she had good taste. Such a character.

I remember him well as I was a camera operator in the studio where he recordered his cooking segment.
He was a lot of fun and was very professional but had a sharp tongue off camera. He always welcomed the crew to eat whatever he had made. Has a gay man he was very flirty with various males in the studio.
