Beef and onion stir-fry

Beef and Onion Stir Fry

Preparation Time: 40 minutes (including marinating time)
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 4
Calories per Serving: Approximately 300-350 calories

Ingredients:

- 500 g tender beef (such as sirloin, flank, or ribeye), thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 medium yellow or white onions, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- Assorted vegetables (optional), such as bell peppers, broccoli, or snow peas
- Steamed rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions:

1. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the beef evenly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

2. Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they become soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

3. Push the onions to one side of the skillet and add the marinated beef to the other side. Stir-fry the beef until it is cooked through and nicely browned, about 4-5 minutes. Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure proper browning.

4. If using vegetables, add them to the skillet and stir-fry until they are crisp-tender, about 3-4 minutes.

5. In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1 tablespoon of soy sauce with 2 tablespoons of water. Pour the mixture into the skillet and stir constantly until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables evenly, about 1-2 minutes.

6. Transfer the beef and onion stir fry to a serving dish. Garnish with sliced green onions or sesame seeds.

7. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Note: The quantities provided are approximate and can be adjusted according to your preference. The calorie count may vary depending on the specific brands, ingredients, and optional vegetables used.
