Beauty expert reveals skincare products UNDER $30 that can help fight skin conditions during winter

The cooler months are fast approaching!

During this time of the year, it can't be denied that some of us experience some type of skin condition that is often attributed to the lack of moisture in the air.

But did you know that there are products under $30 that you can use to protect your skin from the harsh weather?

Beauty editor Samantha McMeekin has revealed her favourite affordable skincare products that can help your skin stay hydrated during the cooler months.

Speaking to Sunrise, Ms McMeekin explained: “The top three things you need to watch out for in winter when it comes to the skin are dryness, redness and dullness.”

“Dryness is the main one people experience as heating turns up and hot showers become a daily occurrence."

“Then there’s the dullness because you’re losing that Vitamin D daily, and redness due to sensitivity.”

The beauty editor advised against people who pack away their sunscreen just because the summer season is over, saying that they should not underestimate the benefits of using sunscreen during winter.

“The Cancer Council one is a great one if you hate the greasy feel of a sunscreen; it’s mattifying in texture, so it’s great for everyone and it’s excellent under makeup,” she quipped.

Ms McMeekin also commented on those people who are afraid of trying face oils, explaining: “People always think that face oils are always going to be heavy in texture.”

“But something like rosehip oil is another great, affordable buy."

“It really provides a nourishing, non-irritating finish to your skin.”

For those of you who suffer from dryness during colder weather, the beauty expert recommends using an overnight mask to allow the moisture to get absorbed by the skin while sleeping.

Meanwhile, for people who wear glasses and who suffer from itchy skin during the cooler months, Samantha advised against hydrating your skin.

She said: “With itchy skin, we often try to steer clear of hydrating it.”

“But we really should be."

“Rosehip oil is a great one or a fragrance-free moisturiser.”

So, for those of you who are curious about which products Ms McMeekin recommends for the colder months, here is the list of the must-have items:
