Bananas

Make them last longer using a piece of alfoil wrapped around the end of the banana. The alfoil can be reused several times. Sometimes it doesn't work. I think it depends on how they are treated in the store. We have been surprised that such a simple hack can be so useful.

Thanks for the great tip, @Blackie. I've heard that it also works if you use plastic wrap - but I think foil is a bit more eco-friendly. They also say that if you wrap your greens (lettuce/spinach etc.) in foil and pop them in the fridge, they stay fresher for much longer.
