Baby responds to 'Alexa' instead of her own name: "Oh no!"

In case you folks aren’t familiar with it, Alexa is Amazon's all-knowing, interactive voice assistant.
In addition to being able to perform basic math calculations, Alexa can play your favourite music, check the news, and control many of your home's smart devices.
Hey, Alexa, what time is it? Alexa, turn on the light. Alexa, add bread, milk and eggs to my shopping list.
These are just a few of the thousands of commands processed daily by Amazon's Alexa smart assistant in millions of homes around the world.
However, in this case, a couple used the command voice assistant in their home so often that their ten-month-old baby mistook her name for "Alexa."
Haley's mother posted the video to her TikTok account, showing the ten-month-old's father calling her name, but she only responded to the name Alexa.
The video is titled: "When your baby thinks her name is 'Alexa' because clearly, we say it too much."

When the adorable young child did not respond when her father called her name, he then called out the voice assistant's name, "Alexa," and she looked over at him.
"Do you think your name is Alexa?" her father asked. "Oh no!"
The video has struck a chord with other parents, as evidenced by the nearly two million views it has received in just two weeks!
It is quite amusing to see how quickly Amazon has gotten into the spirit of the video by making a comment on the clip from their Alexa account, asking, "Do I have to go by Haley now?"
Others made fun of the situation by joking that it was better than thinking her name was Google (as in "hey Google") or Siri, the voice assistant for Apple products.
"Legally, I think this requires you to change her name," another user quipped, while a second one agreed and wrote: "It’s okay, this happens all the time, you just have to reboot both of them at the same time, it’s just a glitch."
Others expressed their understanding of the parents' dilemma, saying that their own children have been known to mix up their names on occasion.
"Hahahha, this is literally my baby too! My baby’s name is Helen and she only responds to Alexa," one mum said.
Haley's parents aren't the only ones who have posted videos of their children in similar situations. In 2019, a mum shared that her daughter Caroline also believed that her name was Alexa for a time.
Even though this is a ‘first-world problem’, it is likely that these cases of mistaken identity have gotten more common because so many parents stayed at home during the pandemic and relied on technology to make their lives easier.
We bet a lot of parents are now searching for information on how to rename Alexa!
