Automaker recalls thousands of vehicles over fire risk—check if yours is affected!

As we journey through life, staying safe on the road is essential, especially as our vehicles play a key role in maintaining our independence.

For many, a car is more than just transportation—it's a connection to loved ones and the world around us.

That’s why it’s important to stay aware of potential vehicle issues that could impact our safety.

Recently, Hyundai Australia has issued a recall that's caught our attention here at the Seniors Discount Club.

Nearly 9,000 Hyundai ix35 vehicles have been identified as having a manufacturing defect that could lead to a serious safety hazard—a fire risk.

'Due to a manufacturing defect, brake fluid may leak into the Antilock Braking System (ABS) control module,' Hyundai Australia announced.

This defect could result in an electrical short circuit, which has the potential to cause a fire in the vehicle's engine compartment, whether the car is parked or being driven.

'A vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders and/or damage to property.' they added.

Hyundai's advice to owners of the affected ix35 models is clear and urgent: park your vehicle in an open space, away from flammable materials and structures—that means keeping it out of the garage until the issue is resolved.

Additionally, if your vehicle's engine warning light illuminates, you must stop driving immediately and contact your local Hyundai dealer.

This isn't the first time Hyundai has had to issue recalls for fire risks.

In recent years, similar recalls have been announced for other models, including the Veloster and Tucson. It's a stark reminder of the importance of automotive vigilance.

For those who own an ix35 that falls under this recall, Hyundai offers rectification work at no charge.

It's essential to contact an authorised Hyundai dealership to schedule an appointment. The repairs will address the defect and ensure your vehicle is safe to drive.

8,794 vehicles from 2012 to 2013 were affected, with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list and the original recall notice attached.

If you're unsure whether your vehicle is affected or you have any concerns, Hyundai has a dedicated Customer Experience Team that can be reached at 1800 186 306.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with them for peace of mind.

Vehicle recalls can be unsettling news, but they are also a testament to the ongoing commitment to safety and the systems in place to protect us.

It's always better to be proactive and address these issues promptly.

We encourage our readers to share this information with friends and family who might be driving a Hyundai ix35.
