Uncle's Smallgoods has issued an urgent recall of its Uncle's Ham from various stores in Victoria after it was confirmed that traces of listeria contamination were detected in it.
It was reported that the product was being sold at IGA stores, independent and specialty grocery stores, and butchers across Victoria and has a best before date of March 23, 2022.
Consumers who have purchased the item are warned to not consume the contaminated ham as the bacteria present in them may cause illnesses such as fever, chills, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea when ingested.

“Food products contaminated with (listeria monocytogenes) may cause illness, especially in pregnant women and their unborn babies, the elderly and people with low immune systems,” the group said.
“Consumers should not eat this product.
“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.”
