Australia has spoken! Can you guess which Shapes flavour was just voted number one?

Just as discussions about favourite footy teams and politics tend to ignite heated debates in Australia, there's another subject of contention that recently had many users passionately invested—it’s none other than the best Shapes flavour!

While this debate might divide households and test friendships, we still hope it's not the kind of topic you'd need a mediator for when brought up during a family BBQ.

That said, deciding on just one can be difficult as these tasty little biscuits come in a variety of flavours, from Barbecue to Cheese and Bacon, Nacho Cheese, Pizza, and Chicken Crimpy.

Nevertheless, Aussies have spoken, and it seems they have made their collective decision.

So which flavour took the crown?

For the first time since the birth of Shapes, Chicken Crimpy has officially taken out the title of the '2023 Flavour of Footy' with thousands of votes being cast in favour of the popular snack!

The news was announced by Krishma Sood, Marketing Manager for Shapes, who revealed that the race between Chicken Crimpy and Barbecue was very close.

'We've always known how passionate Shapes fans are, but witnessing the battle between Chicken Crimpy and Barbecue play out this weekend has levelled up this ongoing debate,' Sood said.

'It was a nail-biter both on and off the field last night, but it was the contest online that truly kept us on the edge of our seats of who would officially take out the 2023 Flavour of Footy.'

On top of this, research commissioned by Arnott’s, which was conducted in 2021, also found an interesting insight into the flavour preferences of Aussies in different states.

Victorians preferred Barbecue (24 per cent), while the same number of Aussies in New South Wales felt the same towards Chicken Crimpy (24 per cent).

Queensland leaned towards the Chicken Crimpy (26 per cent), while Tasmanians had a close race with both Pizza (30.87 per cent) and Barbecue (30.71 per cent).

Lastly, in the ACT, Nacho Cheese took the lead with 26 per cent, with Pizza falling closely behind.

In the same year, Barbecue was voted as the number one flavour across Australia.

Our son lives overseas and when we send him a parcel we must always include "shapes". That's fine, so the last parcel (I will mention the food contents only) was Pizza shapes/BBQ shapes/Vegemite & Cheese shapes/TimTams/Rollups (sours only)/killer pythons and the response was "I love your parcels mum but who the hell decided vegemite & cheese shapes was a good idea? I tried them and took the remaining 98% of the packet to work and suffice to say, no thanks". Our lovely treats go all over the world.

My granddaughter just loves chicken crimpies so always make sure I buy them when she comes down. Big tick for Nana, and together with their favourite yo yoes I bake happy campers🥰

I prefer bbq shapes with savoury coming 2nd. But can understand the chicken one being the favourite because the flavour is through the entire biscuit whereas bbq you have to rely on them having heaps of flavour added on top and these days it’s a bit hit and miss.

I like the chicken crimpy - i had for as long as i remember but as i got older they didn't like me as everytime i ate them i'd break out in tiny water blisters! The doc said it was from some additive in them.
