Aussies are calling this $5 Kmart find a ‘total bargain’

Keeping your gadgets clean and your coffee warm might seem like small wins—but they can make a world of difference in a busy day.

Two surprising finds from a popular retailer have gone viral for solving these everyday problems with minimal effort and maximum value.

Here’s why tech lovers, clean freaks, and coffee addicts are all talking.

A $5 gadget from Kmart became a surprising hit among tech enthusiasts and neat freaks, thanks to its ability to clean even the grimiest of devices.

Praised as a multifunctional lifesaver, the compact cleaning kit was found in the electronics section and quickly sold out online after being shared on social media.

Its popularity stemmed from its clever design, with features aimed at clearing out dirt from small, hard-to-reach tech spaces.

The kit included a 3-in-1 foldable cleaning pen, a high-density soft brush, and a key-cap buckle to lift keyboard keys—ideal for tackling crumbs and grime.

It proved effective on phones, earbuds, keyboards, and speakers, with no special tech skills needed.

One shopper wrote: 'I need to buy this!'

Another added: 'Good little gadget, especially if your keyboard gets crumbs in it.'

The only missing component was a cleaning solution.

Still, shoppers were encouraged to make their own using a 50/50 mix of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol in the spray bottle provided.

Tap water was best avoided, as it could damage delicate surfaces or leave behind residue.

Experts recommended cleaning devices weekly, especially phones, which could carry more germs than a toilet seat.

One user summed it up by saying: 'Amazing. I wish it came with a cleaning solution, but it's still a total bargain.'

Despite its simplicity, this $5 tool turned out to be the must-have no one knew they needed.

Another gadget attracting attention at Kmart was a $29 warming mug, which quickly gained cult status for its practicality.

Designed to keep drinks warm throughout the day, the mug included a 270ml cup and a discreet USB-powered warming plate that maintained a consistent 55C.

It served as a budget-friendly dupe of the Ember smart mug, which retailed for $219 and featured built-in battery tech.

Kmart’s version didn’t have all the bells and whistles, but for many, it hit the sweet spot of affordability and functionality.

One person posted: 'Oh my god, I need one of these—as an office worker you never get to finish a drink while it's hot!'

Another added: 'Where was this when I had toddlers? I used to microwave my coffee three times before I even took a sip.'

Some customers appreciated its straightforward design, with a simple on/off switch and plug-and-play setup suitable for desks, bedrooms, or shared spaces.

Its appeal spanned a wide range of users—from remote workers to busy parents—many of whom said it changed their daily routines.

A shopper commented: 'This would be great for when I hyper-focus. I keep forgetting about my drink, and it always ends up stone cold.'

Others suggested more traditional alternatives, including travel mugs from brands like Yeti or Nespresso.

One commenter said: 'Just buy any decent travel mug—Yeti, Nespresso—or just drink it before it goes cold.'

Despite those views, many fans defended the warming mug as a source of small comfort in hectic lives.

One customer shared: 'These are amazing. I have them in multiple rooms in the house.'

Whether it was for clearing crumbs from keyboards or keeping coffee hot, these Kmart gadgets proved that a few dollars could go a long way.

What a great little convenient product this is. I can just see every member of my family and extended family members all buying their own little $5 cleaning kit. I just can't wait to see the excitement on everyone's face when they see this nifty little gadget. Yes, excitement, anything that creates convenience, especially for my younger family members, amaizingly creates euphoria.
These are gadgets that were non existent in my younger days, and we all grew up manually calculating and doing all kinds of work and cleaning without any complaint at all.
Well, times have changed, and if we don't flow with the change, we will miss out on the positive side, of items created by technology, that can truly make life just that little bit easier every day. 🙏🦋

i would like to see some of these fillies carting food to the shearers and the harvest makers. and cooking a full breakfast to 12 shearers without electricity. My Mum did on a sledge with a draught horse. my sister and i were locked up in a bedroom while this was happening. What they wouldn't have given for just a piece of what these so-called busy housewives have. Bloody hell.
