Are your favourite chocolates disappearing? IKEA set to pull out entire Mondelez range

Let's face it, chocolate is a sweet treat that many of us are guilty of indulging in from time to time. There's nothing quite like unwinding after a long day with a good show, a nice cup of tea, and a small plate of our favourite sugary delights.

'Out with the old, in with the new' is a saying we have all heard, and it seems true even in the confectionery world.

Amid the hustle and bustle of everyday grocery shopping, many shoppers will be stunned to learn that IKEA has decided to phase out an entire range of chocolates from its Australian stores.

An IKEA spokesperson has confirmed that iconic Swedish Marabou products such as Daim chocolate—an absolute favourite in many households—will slowly but surely be phased out.

Marabou chocolates are owned by Mondelez International, a multinational confectionery giant that offers a diverse range of iconic brands like Toblerone, Cadbury, and Oreo.

Their products have become a staple in pantries worldwide.

The reason behind IKEA's chocolate shake-up? The popular Swedish retailer is shifting its focus to IKEA-branded products. According to the spokesperson, the brand has been focusing on IKEA-branded confectionery products for some years, and it's part of their long-term vision to concentrate on these home-brand items.

'The current IKEA range includes some different chocolate products from suppliers owned by Mondelez,' the spokesperson said. 'The decision to phase out those products is a part of the long-term focus on IKEA-branded confectionery products.'

Although we anticipate that many of you will be disappointed to see the end of your favourite confections, here's a silver lining: IKEA assures customers that its snack range is 'all produced responsibly' and is 'UTZ certified', which suggests that the ingredients used are sustainably farmed and that the workers involved are treated fairly.

The date when the Marabou products will vanish from the shelves remains up in the air. But don't let this get you down—it may be time to try something new. Maybe we will find a new snack to accompany our movie nights. Or, perhaps it is a push towards a healthier lifestyle we all need!

Whatever the case may be, remember to stay tuned for updates, and in the meantime, relish every moment and nibble on your beloved Marabou products while they still grace IKEA stores! Bon appétit, everyone!

IKEA are well known for their versatile furniture and domestic items. In the main it is a fun place to shop at, the store is very interesting, and prices don't break the bank. However, they should not be selling food items such as confectionary or similar. They are a furniture store not an outlet for diabetes causing products. Sorry to be a pain but why would a worldly well-established furniture and household goods company see the need to sell sugar. Why would they add to the ever-increasing rates of sugar related illnesses and diseases. I will still go there and browse and shop for household goods but sorry not the food. There is no need to. If they are dropping this range and that includes chocolate, well then that's a positive from my point of view.

Yes, I know that, but I've never gone there to buy food, and I concur with you about an adult being able to make their own choices, the problem is that society in the main does not understand moderation hence our 63% obesity rate. There are plenty of other stores around that can do the damage just as well as IKEA. Just stick to selling furniture and household goods. Next thing you know they'll be having a grocery department or pharmacy. Anyway, not trying to be nasty, just adding a little reality to things. I always post on this site when it comes to bad choices on food and bad dietary habits because we are at that age now where we are running out of credit and youth is no longer on our side, so good eating habits becomes essential.
