Are you team fridge or cupboard? Chocolate lovers are feuding over this sight at Woolworths

Aussie snack fans are buzzing after a recent shift in how one iconic treat is being sold.

What started as a small change quickly sparked a heated debate that split the nation.

From passionate arguments to unexpected revelations, the situation has taken a surprising turn that has left everyone questioning: what’s the right way to enjoy this beloved snack?

Australia’s beloved Tim Tam biscuits sparked a fresh debate after appearing in Woolworths’ refrigerated aisles, leaving fans divided over whether they belong cold or in the cupboard.

Arnott’s, the company behind the iconic treat, revealed on Wednesday that Tim Tams were now available in the fridge section of Woolworths for a limited time.

‘For the first time ever, Tim Tams have taken a cool turn and are now stocked exclusively in fridges at your local Woolworths — but not for long,’ the company announced on social media.

The biscuits will remain in fridges until 28 January, with more than 700 Woolworths stores nationwide offering them at half price during the promotion.

However, pantry enthusiasts can rest easy, as Arnott’s confirmed that Tim Tams are still available in the standard chocolate biscuit aisle.

Woolworths stated: ‘We hope to be able to settle the great Tim Tam tussle. That’s why our Tim Tam-loving customers this week will be able to pick up a cold and crisp packet from our fridges or find them in the chocolate biscuit aisle.’

Arnott’s senior marketing manager Rebecca Chan weighed in on the debate, saying: ‘Personally, I love the melt-in-your mouth moment of a Tim Tam biscuit straight from the pantry, which also is perfect for a Tim Tam slam. However, a cool, crunchy Tim Tam from the fridge is always nice on a warm summer’s day.’

The announcement reignited strong opinions online.

One cupboard supporter wrote: ‘Cupboard. Chocolate never ever, ever, ever, goes in the fridge under any circumstances.’

Another added: ‘Who likes cold hard chocolate. Yuck!’

A similar comment read: ‘If they were meant to go in the fridge that’s where you’d find them in the supermarket.’

On the other hand, some fans were thrilled about the refrigerated option.

‘Fridge so they are nice and firm for a slam in my cuppa,’ one person said.

Another fan took it further, saying: ‘I like extra crunch when I bite into them. Oh and it’s better with a frozen Tim Tam to do the Tim Tam Slam.’

The Tim Tam Slam, where people bite off both ends of the biscuit, dip it into a hot beverage, and sip through it like a straw, remains a beloved tradition for many.

Not everyone had strong storage preferences, though.

One commenter joked: ‘Fridge? Cupboard? Whaaaaat???? The correct procedure is to buy them, eat them on the way home, throw the empty packet in the bin. Isn’t it?’

Another added: ‘I admire all the people who have enough self-control that they need to worry about how to store Tim Tams.’

With the chilled Tim Tams available until late January, the debate over fridge versus cupboard is set to heat up once again.

My local Woolies has parked the TimTams where the eggs used to reside - a clever tactic to hide the lack of supplies.
