Are you at risk? Safety warning issued for Bondi Sands’ sunscreen spray and product recall for Dusk’s electrical oil burners
We all want the best for our loved ones. That's why we here at the Seniors Discount Club want to ensure that our members keep up to date with any safety warnings and product recalls that happen, especially ones that could pose a real threat to your family's safety.
If you've bought Bondi Sands' sunscreen spray or Dusk's electric oil burners, you might want to give this article a read.
Sunscreen is a staple in Australia—with good reason. But a recent warning from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) about a popular sunscreen spray is an important reminder to follow instructions carefully.
The TGA issued a Product Defect Correction for Bondi Sands' Everyday Face Sunscreen SPF 50+ spray, which incorrectly stated that the aerosol product could be sprayed directly onto the face.
The regulatory body warned that spraying sunscreen too close to your face can cause issues like inhalation of particles, coughing, and irritation of the nose, mouth and throat.
Bondi Sands' lightweight, non-greasy formula has made it a popular choice, especially for facial applications on the go. But the TGA's guidance is an important reminder to take care around sprays near the delicate facial area.
'If you spray the sunscreen mist directly onto your face, this may cause accidental inhalation, local irritation of nose, mouth, and throat, as well as coughing and sneezing,' the TGA said.
The product’s directions for use have been updated due to this.

In similar news, a number of electrical oil burners by the candle and fragrance retailer Dusk Australia Pty Ltd are being recalled due to potentially deadly risks.
According to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) Product Safety Australia, the three-hour timer switch mechanism on the oil burners is susceptible to popping out and exposing live electric parts, creating a lethal risk of serious injury or electric shock.
Even worse, the defective product can lead to fires if heated too long, endangering property and person.
‘There is also a risk of burns and damage to property if the oil burner catches fire due to this switch defect,’ the recall notice said.
The affected products were sold nationally, internationally and online between January 20 and September 6.
But no matter the distributor, the ACCC's Product Safety site urges consumers to immediately stop using affected models and return them to Dusk for a full refund.
Distinguishing between the faulty and fitted models isn't difficult. Consumers can check the model number on their electric oil burner on the product itself or the barcode sticker on the packaging.
If you've purchased any of the following products, you should act now to secure your safety:
