Appliance Recall: Popular kitchen appliance recalled due to burn risk

As more and more of us turn to household appliances to make our lives easier, one company that's become increasingly popular in recent years is Thermomix.
The German-made cooking appliance has taken the world by storm, with its ability to chop, shred, knead, blend, cook and steam food all in one go – making mealtimes a breeze!
However, there's been some bad news for Thermomix users this week after it was revealed that one of the company's accessories has just been recalled.
Product Safety Australia recently announced that an accessory for the kitchen tool, which was being sold separately from the device itself, was recalled due to fears that it could injure consumers.
The organisation explained that steam may escape through the hole in the lid of the measuring cup when it is being used with the Thermomix, which in turn can lead to a 'sudden and uncontrolled spillage of hot liquid or food'.
The product in question is the Thermomix measuring cup for the TM6 and the TM5 devices, which was sold online from July 1, 2019, through to August 23, this year, both separately and in conjunction with the cooking device.
Product Safety Australia advised users to stop using the measuring cup when cooking at temperatures above 95C and replaced it with a different accessory to eliminate the risk of burns or scalds.
'Consumers should instead use the simmering basket or the Varoma dish to cover the mixing bowl lid.'
'A software update will be applied to provide warnings and amended instructions. Consumers should follow the amended instructions.'
The cooking gadget's Australian distributor known as The Mix Australia Company encouraged customers to call 1800 004 838 or visit www.thermomixfacts.com.au to receive further information about the product recall.
Stay safe out there, folks!
