ANZAC Day 2025: What stores are open during the long weekend?

As ANZAC Day approaches, Australians are preparing to commemorate the valiant efforts of the country's service men and women.

This day of remembrance is when we pay our respects to those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

However, with ANZAC Day falling on a Friday, it brought with it a long weekend that could disrupt Aussies' usual routines, including shopping schedules.

With back-to-back long weekends after the Easter break, many Australians would likely want to restock their pantries after several days of limited trading hours.

To make sure that Aussies, especially seniors, are not left in the lurch, here is a comprehensive guide to major retailers' trading hours for today, ANZAC Day 2025.

Woolworths
The fresh food people are taking a respectful approach to ANZAC Day trading.

Most Woolworths stores will be closed in NSW, Queensland, South Australia, and Perth.

However, Woolworths stores in Victoria, Northern Territory, and the ACT should be open at 1 pm.

Woolworths stores in Tasmania should be welcoming customers from 12:30 pm.

Meanwhile, regional Western Australians can expect their Woolworths stores to open at either 12 pm or 1 pm.

Coles
Coles followed suit with closures in NSW and Queensland.

Victorians can head to Coles from 1 pm, while those in the Northern Territory should see their local Coles open up by noon.

Coles stores in ACT and Tasmania may open at either 12:30 pm or 1 pm.

However, South Australians and Western Australians should check their local Coles stores' schedules online for specific trading hours.

ALDI
ALDI's approach may vary across the country.

Victoria stores will be open, but Queensland stores should be closed.

For other states and territories, it's best to use the ALDI store locator online for the most accurate information.

Westfield
Shopping centres may have their own set of trading hours.

Westfield locations in NSW, Queensland, SA, and WA are closed.

However, Westfield stores in the ACT are open from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Westfield stores in Victoria should open from 1 pm to 9 pm.

Kmart
Kmart stores in NSW, Queensland, and WA will be closed to observe ANZAC Day.

However, stores in Victoria and South Australia will open after 1 pm, and ACT stores should open their doors after 1:30 pm.

Dan Murphy's and BWS
Most Dan Murphy's and BWS stores will begin trading from 1 pm on ANZAC Day.

In NSW, while most stores will remain closed, select stores attached to ALH Hotels will be open.

SA and WA residents should call their local store for specific trading hours.

BIG W
BIG W will keep its doors shut in WA, NSW, and Queensland.

The retailer will also observe reduced trading hours in other states and territories.

IKEA
The furniture giant will observe closures in NSW, WA, and Queensland.

IKEA will operate with reduced hours in Victoria and SA.

Bunnings
The hardware haven will be closed in Queensland and NSW.

Stores in Victoria, Tasmania, and the ACT will be open from 1 pm to 7 pm.

SA stores are open from midday until 5 pm.

NT stores will have varied store times, while most Bunnings stores in WA will be open from noon to 7 pm.

With the recent changes to the Retail Trading Act, more store closures should be observed today, particularly in New South Wales.

We encourage everyone to check specific stores' opening hours, as they could vary by location.

While it's a day off for many, it's also a day of reflection and gratitude for the freedom Australia has been enjoying, thanks to the sacrifices of many service members.
