Anker recalls three popular power bank models sold worldwide

In today's tech-reliant society, staying powered up on the go is essential, and power banks have become a staple accessory for many of us.

However, it's crucial to ensure that these devices are not only practical but also safe.

Unfortunately, a well-known phone accessory brand recently identified a safety concern with three of its popular models, which prompted a global recall.

Anker, a global tech brand, recalled three power bank models distributed worldwide.

The recalled items were the 334 MagGo Battery (PowerCore 10K), the Power Bank pack, and the MagGo Power Bank, with model numbers A1642, A1647, and A1652, respectively.

According to the company's notice, these devices had a 'manufacturing defect' that could melt internal components.

This defect could be a fire hazard for users.

The notice also added that fumes from lithium-ion could be toxic to users.

While Anker assured customers that a small amount of these power banks were affected, the company still advised them to return the power banks out of caution.

For those who own any of these power banks, check if your device is part of the recall.

Users may check the bottom part of their power bank for the model number and the serial number.

Then, run the serial number through Anker's recall form to see further instructions.

Upon verification, users will be eligible for a free replacement.

To claim the replacement, bring proof of purchase and a photograph of the model number and the serial number.

For those with a defective unit, Anker advised to store the power bank in a safe location, away from any flammable items.

Do not throw the power bank in the bin due to possible fire hazards.

Users may also contact their local community's e-waste initiatives.

Earlier this year, Anker also recalled the 321 Power Bank (PowerCore 5K) and the A3102 Soundcore Bluetooth speaker due to similar concerns.

Anker attributed these issues to a previous supplier and has since switched partners, hoping to avoid the same problems moving forward.

The company also reviewed its quality assurance processes to enhance safety measures.

This recall is a reminder to stay vigilant about the gadgets we use daily.

If ever in doubt about a product's safety, reach out to the manufacturer or check their official website for updates.
