An expanded version in the whimsical spirit of Spike Milligan:
"I must go down to the sea again, the lonely sea and rocks,
And all I ask is a bar of soap to wash my dirty socks.
I need a wind to blow my way, to dry them on the breeze,
And maybe a towel or two to help with the seaweed’s tease.
I'll bring a bucket and a spade to make the washing fun,
And while I'm at it, a fishing pole to catch a little sun.
A seagull’s squawk will be my soundtrack, as I scrub away the grime,
And if the tide decides to rise, I’ll simply buy some time.
With salty air and splashing waves, my laundry will be clean,
And I'll stroll home with shiny socks, a rather happy scene.
For though the sea is wild and vast, it’s good for socks, you see—
A fresh wash and a sunny day are the perfect company!"
