American woman receives backlash online after criticising Australian coffee in TikTok video

An American tourist has received backlash after she shared a video on TikTok titled ‘What not to do in Australia’.
In the video, Erin Fang, better known for her username @thelittlebasketco, gives her tips on what tourists should avoid doing when they visit Australia.

Her first tip is not to go straight to the Opera House, and instead "take a ferry to Manly beach" for the best photos of the Opera House.
The first piece of advice seems to be pretty spot-on as many people agreed that you can take better shots of the Opera House from the view of Manly beach.
However, it’s her next comment that has Aussies up in arms.
“Next up, don’t fall for the coffee,” she advises
“Honestly, we heard that Melbourne had the best coffee, but it just didn’t live up to the hype.”
She goes on to say that if you “had to splurge” on coffee, to go for Patricia’s – a trendy standing-room-only brewery located on Little Bourke Street.
This coffee snobbery has Australian coffee lovers fuming, with many taking to the comments section to defend their beloved brew.
One person argued: “Australian coffee is among the best in the world, get your tastebuds right miss sugary Starbucks.”
“Can’t take this seriously if you’re doubting Melbourne’s coffee scene,” another said.
A third added: “I feel like this video was just clickbait to send all the Aussies wild.”

It should be noted that according to the Square Australia Coffee 2019 report, the country's coffee industry was valued at a whopping $8 billion, making Australia one of the top coffee-producing countries.
Several users explained that Aussie coffee is "way too different" from American coffee, hence, Erin's "weird" verdict.
One comment read: "Nah. Tourists should stick to Starbucks American coffee. It’s what they’re used to."
“Y’all are used to coffee from the USA, with like 20 teaspoons of sugar in it,” another claimed.
A third added: “To all the Americans, the reason why the coffee won’t taste as you expect is that you’re used to US coffee.”
“Imagine actually tasting real coffee in Australia and then still preferring a coffee-flavoured milkshake-like Starbucks or something,” another sarcastically said.
Erin's other "tourist-friendly" tips include not taking an Uber everywhere and trying avo toast.
“Next up don’t take an Uber everywhere. You will run out of money really fast,” she says.
“Instead, just take public transport because not only is it cheaper but it’s such a cool experience.”
“Lastly, do not underestimate the smashed avo. It’s called the national dish for a reason and it’s delicious."

Aussies were quick to point out that avocado toast is not our national dish.
One person wrote: “Point 1: The coffee in Sydney is always better than Melbourne. Point 2: AVO TOAST IS NOT OUR NATIONAL DISH."
“Did you just call avocado toast our national dish? SURELY YOU’RE KIDDING?” another furiously asked.
One person went as far as to call Bunnings snags the country's national dish as a sarcastic reply to the post.
“Excuse me a Bunnings sausage is the national dish,” the user said.
“The national dish is definitely a Bunnings snag,” another agreed.
Regardless, it can't be denied that most of us enjoy a warm cuppa paired with a delicious piece of avo toast every morning.
