Amazing Woolworths trick revealed: How to score $79 worth of groceries for just $15!

As we all know, stretching the dollar is more important than ever for Australian seniors, especially regarding the weekly grocery bill.

It's no secret that smart shopping can lead to significant savings, but one Woolworths shopper has taken bargain hunting to a new level, leaving fellow bargain enthusiasts in awe.

This clever customer has shared her secret to scoring an incredible $79 worth of groceries for a mere $15. It's all thanks to strategic timing and making the most of Woolworths' Everyday Rewards program.

The shopper's strategy was simple yet effective: she shopped late at night when many items were heavily discounted as they neared their best-before dates.

Woolworths stores are known to mark down perishable items to ensure they are sold before needing to be discarded, resulting in discounts of up to 80 per cent off the original price.

But the savings didn't stop there. Using her monthly Everyday Rewards Extra discount, the shopper could shave an additional 10 per cent off the already reduced prices.

The result is a whopping $79 worth of groceries for just $15.85.

She proudly shared her haul on social media, exclaiming, 'This is why I shop at night!'

‘Popped into Woolworths last week, and these items were marked down to 80 per cent off,’ she shared.

‘Plus, I used my Everyday Extra monthly 10 per cent off, bringing it down even further. Best bargain I’ve scored in a while.’

‘Do you shop for markdowns? The savings add up quickly, especially if you freeze the items.’

The Everyday Rewards Extra program is a boon for those looking to save.

For a small fee of $7 a month or $70 a year, members can enjoy a monthly 10 per cent discount on a full in-store or online shop at Woolworths or BIG W and double points on every shop.

This can lead to substantial savings over time, particularly when combined with markdowns.

A Woolworths spokesperson has confirmed that taking advantage of these markdowns is a smart way to cut costs.

‘We’re committed to providing value for our customers, with more than 6000 specials available each week,’ they said.

‘Our ‘Quick Sale’ items offer fantastic savings opportunities and, when combined with our monthly 10 per cent Everyday Extra discount, the savings truly add up.’

Woolworths store teams typically mark down items in the afternoon, making the evening the prime time to swoop in for the best 'Quick Sale' products.

For example, Woolworths roast chickens, which can only be on display for four hours, are marked down 30 minutes before they must be removed.

In similar news, Woolworths has launched a 50 per cent discount promotion on the annual subscription to Everyday Extra, reducing the price from $70 to $35 for the first year.

The offer is available to all Everyday Rewards members until 4 June. You can read more about it here.

A bit laughable.....they line up behind the shop person doing the markdowns like the rats line up behind the Pied Piper of Hamelin...well they certainly do where I shop. To suggest this is a universal way of getting cheaper groceries is just ludicrous. Good on them for getting the markdowns.

Late at night in Perth? Woolworths and Coles close at 5.00 pm on Sunday nights.

In blazing sunshine!

I purchased 2 packs of pork chops, bone in at Woolworths this morning. They had been marked down but the expiry date is 25th August, 10 days away.
Must have been a mistake as other packs had an expiry date of this Sunday. Think I was lucky that I put my glasses on to read the dates.
