ALDI shoppers beware! Mouldy baby clothes could be putting your grandkids at risk!

Mouldy clothes may not seem like a big deal, but they can actually be quite dangerous. Mould can release toxins into the air that can be harmful to your health, and it can also cause skin irritations. If you wear mouldy clothes, you could be putting yourself at risk.

And while we adults can be more careful of these threats, children frequently are not aware of the danger that mouldy clothing poses to their health.

That's why when several ALDI customers discovered mould on kids' clothes that they purchased, they alerted the public about their alarming discovery.

The concerned shoppers have taken to social media to alert other customers who have purchased the leopard print Bonds Wondersuits — which come in blue and pink — to check their items as they claimed that several packets of the product have mould growths in them.

In fact, one Victorian mum immediately took to Facebook to inform other parents and grandparents of her hazardous find on her Wondersuit, which she claimed she had purchased from her local store in Alfredton, Ballarat.

'For anyone who purchased bonds today, please check your items before throwing them in the wash,' she wrote on the Aldi Mums Facebook group.

'Blue leopard Bonds zippy in size two has mould all throughout it. As soon as I opened the package I could smell it.'

'I haven’t been back to ALDI yet as I just got home but will be taking it back today.'

It should be noted that the item was part of the German retailer's Special Buys range for July 27 and has been a popular product for parents and grandparents alike.

She explained the discovery in further detail, claiming that the first indication that something was wrong was the appearance of grey patches on the suit's front.

The mum continued: 'I thought hmm bit weird but maybe just dirt/fluff.'

'Became very apparent very quickly once opened that it was mould. You could smell it but I didn’t notice until I was home.'

Several ALDI customers were prompted to inspect the Bonds suits that they had purchased, with many shoppers from NSW, Canberra, Western Australia, and Victoria claiming that they encountered the same issue.

One shopper said: 'Mine was the same.'

'Just checked mine and it’s exactly the same! Thank you for posting. I got mine from Warriewood, Sydney,' another added.

A third claimed: “My blue and pink leopard ones have mould, all the others are fine. Got mine from Casey, Canberra.’

'That wasn’t Baldivis (WA) by any chance, was it? There was a size 0 there (same print) with mould as well,' remarked one more.

An ALDI spokesperson confirmed that the company is currently investigating the claims, encouraging the customers to contact the retailer with their concerns.

'We are investigating these allegations with urgency and will take appropriate action depending on our findings,' the representative said.

'Any product that does not meet a customer’s expectations can be returned to the store for a full refund.'

If you or your grandkids have mouldy clothes in the wardrobe, get rid of them as soon as possible. Don't try to clean them - it's not worth the risk. And be sure to wash any other clothes that have been stored in the same place.

Mould is nothing to mess around with. Stay safe and get rid of those mouldy clothes!
