ALDI shopper urges the retailer to issue a recall on one of its popular canned tuna products after allegedly finding “bits of wire” inside the snack

An ALDI customer has called on the retailer to issue an urgent recall on one of its popular canned tuna products.

Queensland shopper Colin has taken to Twitter to share a video of how he discovered "bits of wire" inside a can of Portview Tuna Treats.

In the footage, the customer was seen retrieving the pieces of thin metal that were allegedly found inside the snack using a square magnet.

“Aldi Australia [I’m] asking for a recall on Portview Tuna Treats,” the dad tweeted.

“My son had what appeared to be bits of wire in his tuna.”

While the post seemed to warn customers to keep a close eye on the product, a number of shoppers questioned its credibility.

One person wrote: “I always doubt these people who post their story on social media rather than contacting the retailer direct.”

Why post online? Let Aldi know so they can recall straight away if necessary,” another quipped.

An ALDI representative has reached out to the customer, assuring him that the retailer will conduct its investigation on the matter.

"We are concerned to see this and would like to investigate further," the representative said.

It was said that the shopper was encouraged to complete an online product feedback or inquiry form to resolve the problem.

What are your thoughts on this? Should ALDI issue a statement regarding this issue?

Why wouldn't you just to to the source of the problem, in this case Aldi, before you go shouting about it to all and sundry. I'm sure that if Aldi then thought there was a problem they would make a statement to the press.
