ALDI recalls chicken snack over undeclared allergen—are you at risk?

Navigating the aisles of your local ALDI, you might be looking for convenient, family-friendly snacks that won't break the bank.

However, it's crucial to stay informed about the safety of these products, especially regarding food allergies.

ALDI has issued an urgent recall on a popular chicken snack due to an undeclared allergen that could pose a serious health risk.

The product in question is the Chicken Breast T-Rex Bites, a 1kg family pack of chicken finger snacks from the brand Farmwood, which has been found to contain an undeclared peanut allergen.

This oversight could have significant consequences for individuals with peanut allergies or intolerances, as accidental consumption could trigger a potentially dangerous allergic reaction.

Food Standards Australia, the governing body responsible for food safety and regulation, released a statement on Friday highlighting the risks associated with the product.

‘Any consumers who have a peanut allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed,’ Food Standards Australia stated on its recall notice.

‘Consumers who have a peanut allergy or intolerance should not consume this product.’

The recall affects ALDI stores across several regions, including New South Wales (NSW), the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia (WA), and Victoria.

If you've bought the T-Rex Bites from any of these locations, ALDI is offering a full refund upon the return of the product to any of their stores.

No receipt is necessary for the refund, as the safety of consumers is the priority in this situation.

‘Consumers should return the product to any ALDI Store for a full refund,’ Food Standards Australia added.

‘Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.’

This comes after RAM initiated a recall for more than 1,200 utes due to a problem with the software affecting the brake system.

The recall affects the 2021 and 2022 models of the RAM 2500, where a software glitch may cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) to fail.
