A man makes himself a glass of water. He drinks all the water and sets off for work. When he gets back, there is water in the glass. How is this possible?

Aha:he made a glass of water with ice in it drank the water left the ice in it, it melted so it left water in the glass for when he got home from work.

He could have left the glass (either purposefully or accidentally) under a dripping tap.

He could have left ice in it, which later melted.

He could have been visited by the magical water fairy. (Although I'd prefer the magical rum fairy.)
