A viral sweet treat has landed on Australian shores, sparking excitement among foodies and influencers alike.
The much-anticipated release from a well-known chocolate brand is turning heads, but not everyone is convinced it lives up to the hype.
Here's what the buzz is all about and how it stacks up to the original.
Lindt’s much-anticipated release of its Dubai-Style Chocolate finally arrived in Australia this week, sparking conversations among food enthusiasts across the country.
This chocolate creation is a tribute to Sarah Hamouda’s famous dessert, which went viral after a social media post two years after she first created it in 2021.
The original treat was a rich combination of milk chocolate, pistachio cream, and shredded Kadayif pastry, which captivated social media users around the world.
Lindt’s version, exclusively available in its stores, was made with 45 per cent pistachio filling, nut brittle, Kadayif pastry, and milk chocolate.
It’s a slightly thinner version of Hamouda's treat, retailing for $20.
Food influencer Nectorious Papi was quick to try it, calling it ‘absolutely perfect’ for the balance it struck between chocolate and pistachio.
‘It’s not as thick as the other ones you’ve been seeing online,’ he told his followers.
‘It’s the perfect balance between the milk chocolate and the pistachio, because I feel like the other ones can be a little bit sickening. This one is absolutely perfect.’
Meanwhile, social media creator @forevavictoria, anticipating long lines at her local Lindt store, made sure to head out early to get her hands on it.
After trying it, she said the flavour wasn’t what she expected, despite having craved it for so long.

‘The fact that I was craving this for so long and I feel like it doesn’t taste how I imagined it to taste,’ she said, sharing her mixed thoughts.
‘It’s a bit disappointing. It’s not bad but I wouldn’t buy it again for $20.’
The chocolate’s release comes amid a global pistachio shortage, with prices soaring in some countries.
Australia, however, has largely been unaffected by the increase in pistachio costs, ensuring that supply remains steady.
In fact, Coles reassured customers that they had plenty of pistachios to meet the rising demand.
A Woolworths spokesperson also confirmed that the shortage had not impacted their supply.
In a previous story, we discussed concerns surrounding the practices of major chocolate brands and their manufacturing tactics.
If you’re curious about how these issues are affecting the industry, be sure to check it out.
It sheds light on some significant challenges facing the chocolate world today.
