In my teens I spent some time in a noviciate. I’m a morning person and on my first morning, at 05:00 a.m. I greeted the Mother Superior with a very chipper “good morning!” There was no speaking, unless for emergency, until after Mass. No talking from 05:00 - 08:15, I didn’t last long in the convent.
