60 year old Burger King worker, who got a ‘candy goody bag’ after 27 years of service at the fast-food giant, receives over $244k worth of donations

Just when you thought there was no wholesomeness left in the world, a collaborative effort among thousands of anonymous internet users was set into motion to help out a complete stranger – and it has restored our faith in humanity.
A former Burger King employee has received an absolute whopper (sorry) of donations – $244,700 worth from GoFundMe in the span of four days – as recognition of his 27 years of service at the popular fast-food chain.
Kevin Ford, 60, took the job opportunity as a single father in order to gain custody of his two children. Ford showed an immense amount of dedication to his job and claims to have never missed a single shift.
After nearly three decades of blood, sweat and tears, footage of him that was posted by his daughter revealed that he was given a movie ticket, a bag of sweets, a coffee tumbler, a lanyard, and some pens as a ‘thank you’ gift.

In the clip, he graciously said that 'loyalty pays off'.
The video circulated like wildfire online as plenty of users argued that the hardworking man deserved much more.
“This is all you can do for this man?” one person tweeted, while another deemed Ford's video 'depressing' and 'embarrassing' for the brand.
Others insisted that he deserved an entire franchise or an 'all-expense-paid trip'.
“I was grateful for anything. There are people I have worked with for 20 or 30 years and they didn't get anything. I am happy with anything,” the humble employee shared.
“I am grateful and happy. I am just thankful that I got that,” he added, referring to the goodies he received.
When asked about the donations he received from over 4,700 people, Ford said that the gesture made him emotional.
“The generosity of these people is just overwhelming. I've been crying for three days now. I can't believe it. I really can't,” he shared.
Ford said that couldn’t explain why he had never missed a shift in his 27 years of work.
“I don't know myself. I don't know how I did that! Maybe I'm a robot? I just never thought about taking a day off. I just try to work as hard as I can, whatever I do,” he explained.
Ford's daughter Seryna detailed how his family grew over the years thanks to his father’s perseverance. She also said that he “continued to work here [at Burger King] because of the amazing health insurance.”

“My dad continues to work [for Burger King] because even though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement,”
“In no way are we asking for money or is he expecting any money but if anyone feels like blessing him, he would love to visit his grandchildren,”
The massive amount of support rendered the family speechless, with the donations now surpassing $244,000 since Tuesday.
“I'm here trying to get through dinner without crying! You are such remarkable people,” Seryna wrote. “I seriously can't believe this. You are all changing his life! Thank you all! A million times over, THANK YOU!!!!”
Among the donors includes celebrity comedian David Spade, who gave Kevin Ford a hefty $7,000 and contacted him privately on social media.
“Keep up the good work. 27 years,” Spade told Ford, to which the BK employee replied: “Holy s**t dude” alongside three shocked face emojis.
