Who doesn't love a good mud cake? They are the perfect dessert for any party or gathering, and they always seem to be a hit with everyone. Mud cakes are so easy to make (or buy), and they can be easily customized to fit any theme or occasion.

There is just something about a mud cake that makes it so irresistible. Maybe it's the rich, chocolatey flavour, or the thick, creamy frosting. (Maybe it’s the convenience of buying it premade.) Whatever the reason, mud cakes are definitely a staple in the Australian dessert scene.

There are so many different ways to make a mud cake, and there are even more ways to decorate them. Here are some of our favourite cake designs that you can try on the classic Woolies mud cake:

If you're looking for a show-stopping dessert that is sure to impress, look no further than this decadent 'fancy cake'. Made with just a few simple ingredients, this cake is surprisingly easy to put together - and it's sure to be a hit with anyone who loves sweet, rich chocolate.

For the cake, you'll need three Woolworths white chocolate mud cakes. If you're not a fan of buttercream, you can leave the icing off of the cakes. However, if you want to go all out, cover the cakes in vanilla buttercream icing.

To create the ‘naked cake’ look, simply use a ruler or scraper to smooth off the edges of the cake, removing the icing as you go. Then, top with fresh flowers and serve. Just be sure to remove the flowers prior to serving.

Materials:
3x Woolworths White Chocolate Mud Cake
Dollar Sweets Vanilla Buttercream ( you can get this from the cake section in Woolworths)
Flowers for the top of the cake

Method:
1. Remove the icing from 3 Woolworths mud cakes (or you could leave it on, it’s up to you).
2. Layer the 3 mud cakes on top of each other.
3. Cover the cakes in the buttercream icing making sure the entire cake is covered.
4. Using a (clean) ruler or scraper, smooth off the edges of the cake removing icing as you go to create the ‘naked’ cake look. Do this slowly and don’t worry if you mess it up, you can just add more icing and scrape it again.
5. Top with flowers and serve.

If you're looking to add a touch of elegance to your next dessert, why not try this KitKat Charlotte Mud Cake with dip-dyed strawberries? This simple yet stunning technique is perfect for adding a bit of flair to any occasion.

To create your own dip-dyed strawberries, you'll need dark chocolate, white chocolate, and a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. First, melt the dark chocolate and white chocolate in separate bowls. Then, dip each strawberry in the dark chocolate sauce, and place it on the parchment paper. Next, drizzle the white chocolate over the strawberries, and then refrigerate the strawberries for about one hour. Once the strawberries are chilled, they're ready to use as a decoration for your cake or other desserts.

To prepare the cake, simply cut the cake into 1-inch layers, and then top it with a layer of icing. Add another layer of cake, and then repeat the process until all the layers are stacked. Once the cake is assembled, cover it with a layer of icing, and then use a long spatula or bench scraper to even out the sides and top of the cake.

Cover the sides of the cake with KitKats, similar to that of a Charlotte Cake. Next, fasten it by tying a ribbon around the cake. Then, decorate the top of the cake with chocolate icing swirls before placing the dip-dyed strawberries.

Finally, refrigerate the cake for one hour before serving.

I have used the drip cakes when in a hurry. They sell for $25 and I just add the person's favourite chocolates

As for the mud cakes taking the icing off you will lose alot of cake. Leaving it on will be too sweet.
If you use the mudcakes to stack , the top one place it upside down to ice.

Mud cakes always remind me of my teen years 🤪 Used to babysit for friends of family & the dad always made us a mud cake which we ate warm with really icy cold icecream = so decadent! It's the only way I eat mud cake, still, 50+ years later! I must mention he was a chef & that was his go-to treat for well behaved kids he used to say. It worked on my kids too so I guess he was right!
