3 CHEMICAL-FREE tricks to make your home smell amazing on a budget!

For many of us, the idea of a “clean home” is synonymous with the idea of a “fresh smelling home.” In fact, we have been taught to believe that the only way to make our home smell fresh is to use a chemical-based air freshener.

The problem with this thinking is that most air fresheners contain toxic chemicals that can be harmful to our health.

Fortunately, there are a number of cheap and easy ways to make your home smell amazing without resorting to toxic chemicals.

So, if you are looking for ways to make your home smell amazing without resorting to harsh chemicals, you'll definitely love these tips from Australia's "Cleaning Queen" Chantel Mila!

Chantel Mila, better known as Mama Mila, has taken to Instagram to share her top three tips for making your home smell wonderful. The best part is that all you need are some common household items to get the job done!

1. Coffee grounds or beans as deodoriser

Mama Mila suggests placing coffee grounds or beans in a heatproof bowl with a tea light. The warmth of the candle will heat up the coffee and your whole house will smell incredible. Just be sure to never leave the candle unattended.

2. Cleaning the sink with lemon and baking soda

The mum-of-two recommends cleaning your sink with a lemon slice that is sprinkled with baking soda. The enzymes produced by the chemical reaction between the lemon and the baking soda can get rid of rust spots, cut through dirt, and deodorise the sink.

3. Technique for getting rid of carpet odours

To get rid of carpet odours, Chantel suggests creating a DIY deodorising solution by adding 10 drops of essential oil into 1/2 cup of baking soda.

Sprinkle the solution on carpets, leave for 1 hour, and then vacuum to remove the mixture.

"Just be sure to check your vacuum manual to see if it can be used with fine particles before doing this," Mama Mila advised.

their idea is not new. Pretty standard - but as I hate smell of coffee I would never use it. (don't drink it and find it challenge in cafes and supermarket aisles.

I too am not a great fan of the coffee aroma, I find it far too strong. I much prefer natural, light floral scents so use strategically placed reed diffusers.:)
