$2 thrift store doll holds jaw-dropping surprise: ‘Strangest find I’ve ever had’

Thrift shopping can be a treasure hunt, a journey of discovery where you never know what you might find.

From rare collectibles to designer wear at a fraction of the cost, the possibilities are endless.

But sometimes, the surprises that come with these second-hand items can be downright bizarre, even unsettling.

One such incident recently left a woman in shock. She had purchased a porcelain doll from a thrift store for $2, hoping it might be a hidden gem.

Little did she know, the doll was hiding something far from precious inside its hollow head.

The woman shared her strange find on social media, posting a picture of the doll with the top part of its skull removed.

Inside, a grey plastic package was visible, its contents a mystery. 'I’m at work, and I get this text from my husband,' she wrote.

'Any guesses what’s inside this doll's head? This is the STRANGEST thrift find I’ve ever had!'

The post sparked speculation among social media users.

‘Am I the only one who immediately thought it was cream cheese?’ another added.

‘That’s a bit creepy,’ a third said.

The truth, however, was even more unexpected.

A keen-eyed commenter zoomed in on the tiny writing on the package, revealing it to be a packet of condoms—‘one dozen’, to be precise.

The woman confirmed this surprising revelation, leaving many in the comments section in disbelief.

Responses ranged from amusement to concern.

'Girl, you better wash that thing,' one woman advised.

'Am I the only one who thinks that this is scary?' another asked.

Some found the situation humorous, with one user joking, 'Such a good hiding spot though!'

One man's comment stood out, attracting hundreds of interactions.

'The bigger question is, who looks at a porcelain doll and thinks “Gee, I wonder what's inside its head?''’ he queried.

This peculiar incident is just one example of the surprises that can come with thrift store purchases.

In a previous story, a woman bought a $50 marble bust from a Goodwill thrift shop as she was ‘looking for anything that looked interesting’.

However, it turned out that her marble bust was estimated to be approximately 2,000 years old and had originated in ancient Rome! You can read more about the story here.

A few yrs ago while volunteering in an Op shop, I had a customer come up to me and ask if there was any extra charge for the contents inside a item he wanted to purchase. The item in question was a humane mouse trap and you guessed it, there was the remains of a dead mouse inside the trap and yes he still wanted to buy the item, he just wanted the skeleton with some fur still attached to it emptied out.
