Yes I had a couple of these spinning tops of different sizes. I remember pulling up the middle section then pushing down as fast as I could to make it spin around and see the colours and patterns on the top section that were formed.

I remember laughing with glee as the top raced around the linoleum kitchen covered floor and got in mum’s way.
 
l had one that you whipped to make it spin and a long springy sort of thing you placed on the top of the stairs and watched it go down every step
 
We had one of these and thought it was great. The old toys seemed to need more physical input from the kids and this was no different. Footballs, tennis balls, skipping ropes, jacks, cricket sets - all kept us moving. And we had a lot of fun too!
 
I had two toys I regret not keeping, 1) a model of the original Cunard liner, Queen Mary. It had three wheels and the one under the bow was off centre and made it look like it was going through waves and 2) a brilliant model of a Spitfire made by my Dad from wood. He was great man with anything wooden.
