When it comes to grocery shopping, everyone loves a good bargain, especially when it's a delicious one!

ALDI, known for its cost-effective and intriguing product range, has once again hit the jackpot with a new item that's causing quite a stir among shoppers.

The latest obsession? An irresistible $5.99 bag of Ocean Royale Popcorn Prawns is making waves in the freezer section and has quickly become the talk of the town.

Popcorn prawns, a beloved snack in the United States, have now found their way into the hearts (and shopping carts) of Aussies, thanks to ALDI's knack for introducing palate-pleasing products at wallet-friendly prices.

‘My latest ALDI find,’ one excited ALDI fan shared on social media. ‘Sooo yummm.’

The Ocean Royale Popcorn Prawns are being lauded for convenience and ease of preparation. While one shopper suggested tweaking the air fryer instructions for optimal crispiness, the consensus is that these prawns are a simple yet satisfying addition to any meal.

Whether you're an ALDI aficionado or a curious newcomer, the buzz around these prawns is hard to ignore.

The sentiment was echoed by others who have given these prawns a resounding thumbs up.

‘These are elite,’ one said. ‘I actually like them with soy sauce. A bit of kewpie mayo would go nice, too.’

‘We have them as tacos with mixed salad leaves and aioli,’ another shared.

‘Yep, we love them,’ someone else said, while others agreed they were ‘so yummy.’

However, amidst the praise, some shoppers have sounded a note of caution about whether the prawns have been properly de-veined.

‘I can't eat them knowing they are not de-veined,’ one person said.

‘They would have to be de-veined—wouldn’t they?’ another asked.

‘I think there was a post a while back where someone had taken off their crumb, and they weren’t deveined, a third replied.

In 2022, a woman shared a photo of her popcorn prawn with a very unsettling sight of the shrimp’s 'poop chute'.

‘I was about 10 in when I realised,’ she posted on social media. ‘Now I'm distraught and laughing to keep from throwing up!’

Despite this, the overall reception of ALDI's Ocean Royale Popcorn Prawns in Australia has been overwhelmingly positive.

With social media personalities and shoppers alike singing their praises, it's clear that this $5.99 find is a must-try.

I have been making something very similar for over 30 years.

It's called Honey King Prawns! Sourced from Australia from raw materials manufactured in Australia.
Sounds yummy
