‘No way. Oh my god.’: Watch what this robot did at a local Kmart!

Shoppers at one Kmart store were left speechless after a routine pick-up turned into something out of a sci-fi film.

A Queensland woman watched in awe as a robot zipped out her Click & Collect order from the store’s warehouse—no staff needed.

The entire interaction took less than a minute… but left a lasting impression.

Samantha Bailey had simply turned up at her local Kmart at Westfield Mount Gravatt to collect an item she had ordered online.

Instead of heading to the traditional Click & Collect counter, she was directed to a self-serve kiosk.

After entering her order number, a message popped up on the screen: ‘Your order is arriving soon. Prepare to pick up your order. Your order will arrive shortly in a tray to the right.’

Seconds later, an animation appeared showing a robot transferring the item from the shelf to the collection point.

Within 30 seconds, her purchase arrived—delivered neatly in a tray beside the kiosk.

A Kmart employee nearby explained: ‘It’s a new thing...They’re just experimenting with our store.’

‘(The order) will come out on your right hand side about 20 to 30 seconds.’

Samantha filmed the entire process, stunned by the futuristic setup and how seamless it felt.

As the tray opened to reveal her order, she gasped: ‘No way. Oh my god.’

Curious, she peered through the window above the collection area and saw a tiny robot at work, moving her item behind the scenes.

‘This was so cool,’ she said.

She later explained that the feature only worked if customers placed an online order first and waited for confirmation before visiting the store.

‘The whole thing (in store) took probably a few minutes total,’ she said.

Her video has since gone viral, racking up over 240,000 views on social media.

Viewers were quick to share their amazement.

‘OMG this is amazing,’ one said.

‘If this comes to our local I’m gonna Click & Collect everything,’ another joked.

‘This is so cool. As an introvert, this would make life so much easier,’ one comment read.

‘Best thing ever,’ another added.

Kmart has been trialling the automated Click & Collect system at select locations across Australia since late 2023.

It remains unclear how many stores currently offer the feature, but a national rollout is expected if the trials continue to prove successful.

Kmart has been contacted for comment.
