‘Let’s talk about it’ – This woman claims she knows exactly when men will get married

When it comes to matters of the heart, even the most logical among us can sometimes find ourselves in a quandary. How do we know if we’ve found the ‘right one’? Do men and women approach dates differently?

These are questions that are debated time and time again, and one woman recently sparked quite a heated debate after suggesting she knows exactly when men will choose to pursue marriage and how it is linked to a man’s financial and emotional maturity.

The question is, do you agree with her?

Taylor Herd, who posts content on TikTok under the username @Taytalkspod, shared a thought-provoking video surrounding when men decide to get married.

She admitted that while scrolling through the social media platform, she came across a wedding photographer who originally posted the theory.

‘Ever since I heard this theory, I cannot get it out of my mind,’ she stated in the video.

The theory is this: ‘Men marry the woman in front of them at the time they are ready to get married.’

Implying that men, once they are financially stable and emotionally mature enough for marriage, will marry the one they’re dating at the time. Not necessarily their ‘soulmate’ or the ‘love of their life’.

Taylor continued: ‘It was just the girl he was dating at the time he was ready to get married and settle down.’ She said that once the man is ready, the part of his brain that says ‘oh wait, there’s another girl out there’, shuts off and now his focus is on marriage and not on the ‘next best thing’.

The blunt statement struck a chord with thousands of Taylor’s followers, and the video quickly gained over 4.4 million views.

‘I strongly agree,’ said one woman.

Another wedding photographer said it ‘definitely makes sense’.

Someone else commented: ‘Yes, and the woman who checks the boxes of what his family, religion, and circle expect of him. He will reject the girl he loves if she doesn’t fit that.’

One woman asked about the type of guy who will break up with their partner of over 10 years, and then turn around and marry someone else three months later.

She received this reply from another user: ‘He kept her that long because he wanted the benefits of a relationship, but kept looking for the one he wanted for real.’

Another woman suggested that girls do this, too. ‘Many girls are ready much earlier. I’ve seen friends settle for less than I know they can get.’

Society’s expectations on love and marriage can come into play once someone reaches that ‘sweet spot’ where peers and loved ones settle down. One person commented that American celebrity Kim Kardashian only married her former husband Chris Humphries because she was 30 and ‘all her friends were getting married’.

Others shared how this theory ‘unlocked’ new fears in them in terms of dating and relationships.

‘This is my biggest fear, being the person someone settled for because they messed it up with who they really wanted,’ admitted one.

‘Thank you for reminding me why I’ll never get married,’ another user stated. However, someone replied to them and said not to give up on finding love. ‘Take it from me, some guys still marry their soul mates’, they said.

Men in the comments section rebutted Taylor’s theory. One said: ‘Disagree completely. I waited until I found a partner worth building a life with.’

He later added that he hopes that the majority of people aren’t marrying because it’s ‘convenient’.

Another man shared that he will never marry a woman unless he knows she’s ‘the one’. ‘I won’t even date a woman if my heart is with another.’
