    Not a money grab but a way of stopping these morons from destroying the neighbourhood peace and quiet. It is definitely not a new rule. It was certainly around, and policed, in the 1950/60s. I was one who paid the penalty.

    This is not a new rule. Being fined for operating as noisy vehicle in the 1950/60s was quite a regular occurrence. I copped a hefty fine in 1958 for a noisy motor bike. The fine was in excess of my average weekly pay. The noisy exhaust rule has always been there, just hasn't been policed.
