Buckle up, seniors! New driving regulations could target elderly licence holders

I, being just under the 75 deadline (in some states), am very much aware of my increasing limitations due to health conditions and age related restrictions. I am worried about not being fully functional on the roads but look forward to VicRoads making changes that keep me and very other driver...

Retro rates? AMP Bank goes old-school with new savings product

ING still offering 5% with Savings Maximiser. Yet there are hoops to jump but nothing too hard for using everyday banking. Yes it, too, does have to increase but an easy auto monthly transfer takes care of that.

Still Love Your Phone? Here Are the Best SIM-Only Deals in Australia Right Now

My wife and I used to pay Telstra $50 - $60 per month each for our mobiles. A relation showed us that going Prepaid sim only we cut that down to $30/month each. Then Telstra sneakily upped that to $35 two years ago then $39 last year. The only reason we use the big T is that when playing at...

Rural residents shell out more for health services as hidden costs emerge

What worries me about going public is the, possible, waiting times for surgery and treatment. My wife had to have back surgery a few years ago and after seeing the surgeon for the first time she was asked if she had any plans for the next week. We were told to leave his office while he saw the...

Posties are skipping doorbells more than ever—but this witty fix is catching on!

Has anyone considered that the postman doesn’t, actually, carry the parcel? He only carries the card telling you to go to the post office to collect the parcel that he/she might not have room to carry. I believe if you have an Auspost account you will get an email instead of the card carrying...

Electricity prices just jumped again! This switch could save you up to $390

I would like to know how you managed to not spend anything on power for the last 10 years. Are you saying that your feed in Tarif covers the supply charge? In Victoria the FIT was 4.9 cents/kw two years ago, then last year it was reduced to 3.3 cents and from 1st Aug will be 1.5 cents. Together...

What July 1 brings for Aussie seniors

I am worried by the new rules telling us that we must slow down to 40km/h (in Vic) when passing an emergency or rescue vehicle with their lights (orange, blue and red or whatever) flashing. I recently travelled to Melbourne on the M8 and on a left hand bend near Ballarat I noticed a B-double...

Petrol price hits $2 mark as Middle East conflict drives global oil surge

Use the fuel apps like Petrol Spy. By using it yesterday I found that the dearest price for diesel in my area was $2.07 and the cheapest was $1.67 a 40 cent difference. When buying up to 80 litres at a time it makes a big difference.

A FIT (feed in Tarif) of 6 cents!! what a dream. I live approx 100 kms from Great Western (Vic) and our FIT dropped from 4.9 cents down to 3.3 cents last year. How does this compare with others around the state, country or globally?
