I too am a traditionalist and love the spicy fruit buns best. I wish the gang had compared the normal buns instead of all the fancy ones.

'Charity is just a big business': Aussies outraged over op shops' price hikes

I think it depends on the individual shop. The Salvos at Maroochydore is quite expensive, especially on furniture, but the one if Nambour is a lovely shop and quite reasonable. Neighbour's aid in Nambour is a lovely shop ( unfortunately decimated and currently stripped and closed due to the...

Young Aussie finds $380 treasure hidden in posh neighbourhood trash

I love treasure hunting. We used to find wonderful ones in Melbourne when our daughters lived there. Sadly, they are not so prevalent on the Sunny Coast. However, I still love garage sales. We once bought a glass shower screen to replace a shower curtain for $1!! But the best buy I have ever...

Dad then returned to war. He came back a year later and they were married in January 1945. As rationing was in...

Shoppers urged to stay vigilant after shocking self-checkout mistake at Woolworths

Absolutely! We have got 2 legs of lamb and our Christmas ham because of this rule. Both Coles and Woollies. If you spot an item wrongly marked, buy it at the checkout. Then go to the Service desk and tell them. They will refund your money and you get to keep the item. The last time, my husband...

    November Competition: Christmas Memories

I had always longed to experience the German Christmas markets. In 2003, my fairytale dream came true. We travelled from Dover, crossed on the ferry to Calais, then headed through Belgium to Rudesheim on the Rhine. We were thrilled to find that this quaint, historic town was surrounded on 3...

So excited! I am going on a cruise for 9 nights in December. After the tumultuous year we have had, it will be the perfect time for a rest. Brisbane to Brisbane to Tasmania. We have sold 2 houses and move into our Happy Retirement Home on November 2nd. After living on our little farm in our 100...

Ex-police officer falls victim to impersonation scam: Police advise what to watch out for!

I enter competiions. An unknown number could be someone telling me I have won a car or a trip to England. It is fairly easy to recognize scammers, so I am very cautious.

Ex-police officer falls victim to impersonation scam: Police advise what to watch out for!

I also do not do financial dealings on my phone. I use my home computer to do Netbank. We live in dangerous times and there are very clever and unscrupulous criminals out there. It pays to be vigilant always!

    Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers

Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers I found this beautiful iris in Toowoomba just after the Carnival of Flowers last year. We didn't make it to Toowoomba on the Festival weekend, but was passing through about 2 weeks later. I begged my husband to drive past Queen's Park to see if the flowers were...

A cunning bank scam wipes out couple's $240,000 life savings—are your funds at risk, too?

I don't think he did lose it. The only explanation I can find, is when he emailed me the details, it was then that the scammers changed the numbers. I am still working out this mystery. Stay tuned.

A cunning bank scam wipes out couple's $240,000 life savings—are your funds at risk, too?

I am so thankful for our Commonwealth bank in Nambour. I tried to pay a bill for $5000 to a builder for a retaining wall. I was given his bank details by our neighbour, who had already paid half of the cost. He also emailed me the invoice with the bank details. My netbank refused to pay it. I...
