My friends and I have joined a group online called Random Acts of Crochet Kindness Australia. The group members anonymously leave small gifts in random places, to make people feel happy. The recipient can go onto the Facebook page of this group to show a photo of their gift, and their response.

I remember in the early 50's hanging one of my Dad's socks on the bed post, and waking to find a piece of fruit, some lollies and a small gift, Dad didn't have big feet! Another gift would be on the floor below. No big gifts in those days!

When I was a teenager (60 years ago), all bags had to be left on a shelf inside the entrance before entering the supermarket. Any bags taken in were searched by checkout operators on the way out. There was very little shoplifting in those days!
