seniors beware - scam if you are the lucky superwinner

I received an email from 'Netflix' regarding their inability to access the month's payment. I phoned Netflix, it was obviously a scam. Also, a phone message that my passport had expired. Since I have no plans to ever travel again, this, too, was a scam. If I'm ever in doubt, I phone the provider.

‘Recidivist sex offender’ set for release this year

An appalling decision by a group of people who ignore the safety of the public, and the obvious threat this repeat offender of violent crimes poses. This man and those found guilty of similar atrocities should serve a life sentence. Why are the authorities responsible for reviewing the never...

Mum’s financial nightmare: Losing her $317K life savings to a shocking scam!

Don't become a ' mule'. Scammers contact victims and coerce them into becoming a ' partner', earning commission by receiving money from them, and putting it into an account, then sending the money to a designated account using a wire transfer, for which they're paid a small commission. Victims...

‘Not ashamed of themselves’: Young thugs invade home, steal sleeping elderly man's car keys

If a 'smack on the bum' doesn't hurt, what's the point of doing it? Teach a child that bad behaviour won't be tolerated, by denying them something they treasure, and continue to deny it, until they learn what is acceptable, and what isn't. Unless severe physical force is used, there is no point...

‘Not ashamed of themselves’: Young thugs invade home, steal sleeping elderly man's car keys

If only. Many offenders live with parents who do not work, and receive Government benefits. I think what underlies the ongoing problem with juvenile offenders, is that little to no funding is provided to counteract juvenile crime. Insufficient detention centres, or camps which teach by example...

‘Sad, thin dough-rings’: Coles doughnuts dismay shopper

I realised several years ago, Oxo cubes are not square any more, they have a furrow in the middle of each side. Perhaps not much, but multiply that by millions of cubes, and it's saving the manufacturers money. Sneaky. I don't buy Oxo any more.

‘Not ashamed of themselves’: Young thugs invade home, steal sleeping elderly man's car keys

Using physical force to discipline a child IS child abuse, and a cowardly act on a defenceless child. If a child is attacking others at kindergarten, primary, or senior school, the authorities contact the parents, and clearly inform them, that hitting, biting, kicking, hair pulling, or any...

Elderly woman left in critical condition after horrific hospital attack

LIke all decent, law abiding individuals, reading about the attack on this vulnerable elderly woman fills me with anger and despair. More so, because I was a nursing sister for forty five years, and my work included caring for those assaulted by a violent offender. I know what it's like to...

Elderly woman left in critical condition after horrific hospital attack

I don't see any point in ' bothering ', you're entitled to your opinion. I agree with what you say, I don't agree with how you say it. 'Difficulty ' isn't the issue.

It is possible to air your views without being offensive. Try it, it isn't difficult.

New data reveals Australians spend $7 billion on lotteries despite soaring living costs

I've never gambled, smoked, used illicit drugs, or alcohol. Life's too short, and it's damaging physically, psychologically, and financially.

What is atrial fibrillation, the heart condition US President Joe Biden lives with?

I forgot to add, atrial fibrillation is scary, ventricular fibrillation is worse, disorganised electrical activity in the heart causes both conditions. The area of the heart where the malfunction occurs is coagulated, and forms scar tissue, lessening the risk of fibrillation manifesting...

What is atrial fibrillation, the heart condition US President Joe Biden lives with?

I've had two ablations for atrial fibrillation, the first, a ' flutter' ablation, performed using a local anaesthetic. Unfortunately, this didn't stop me having a series of fibrillation episodes, and I had a second ablation, a three hour operation using a general anaesthetic. Now I have a...

5 under-appreciated crime novels you should read

My second book is now published on Amazon. I'm certain both books would interest Seniors Discount Club readers. Both books are written as fiction, but based on fact, and if readers have seen Clarissa Dickson Wright one of the Two Fat Ladies on television, my description of the day her surgeon...
