Advocates call for elder abuse laws as one in seven senior Territorians face family abuse

Her first mistake - giving the druggie money in the first instance.

Could asking ChatGPT for diet advice put your health at risk? One man's question led to a hospital visit.

I've always understood potassium chloride was the recommended substitute for sodium chloride. Apparently doctors still know more than AI. Machines can't answer questions. Garbage in/garbage out in this instance. AI is only as 'intelligent' as the information put into it, how it is accessed...

    MAKE SURE PETS,...

It's sad when you're not allowed to smoke bare-footed pets...

The future of beef is here…and it’s nothing like you remember

Who, on a pension, can afford Wagu beef?

Woolworths’ new reusable bags have arrived! Ready to make your grocery shopping easier?

Oh, by the way - I've found the insulated bags can usually be made to stay open by themselves. If you have to buy something, surely an insulated bag is better value for money!

Woolworths’ new reusable bags have arrived! Ready to make your grocery shopping easier?

My go-to for the self service struggle? Don't use it. Or, if I must, look helpless until the person monitoring it comes along and does it for me. I'm paying the same price whether or not I use the self-service, and by using the self-service I feel I risk putting someone out of work.

Worried about AI creating fake nudes of real people? The government is finally taking action

I agree wholeheartedly. Machines can't think - but they can be taught to be corrupt!

Worried about AI creating fake nudes of real people? The government is finally taking action

Will the laws stop online abuse? No - because it is almost impossible to discover who the abuser was unless the abuser is very, very clumsy. The moral of which is: don't post pictures of self online - or, if you must, make it a cartoon picture!

Is your favourite Aussie boot really worth $649? Here's what to consider before you buy

The cost of leather, the cost of labour in Australia for something that is genuinely Australian made... Yes, prices can seem high. That boot seems a bit too high, unless it was hand-made by a superior craftsman. It is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay above my...

Bizarre habit piling up on major road sparks calls for cameras and $400 fine

Environmentalists are making lots of noises about the problem of plastics pollution (forgive the alliteration), from plastic straws to vapes - pity only a few people are listening. The Filthy Monkey is getting filthier while following the Climate Change Religion. The Climate Change Religion...

THIS simple mistake caused a giant rat infestation—what councils aren’t telling residents

It looks to be about the size of one of my cats - not the smallest - and a fierce little ratter she was. A Singapura or a Black Footed wild cat is smaller than that rat, I think!

What's on your current reading list?

Monsters and Mainframes, by Barbara Truelove. 2025. Available from Amazon. Can't describe it - you have to read it yourself. Tried to send a photo - apparently too large for the server to process.

Cars Behaving Badly: Why Your “Fuel-Efficient” Car Might Be Guzzling More Than Promised

I've always considered the 'fuel economy' stickers on a new vehicle to be "when driven under optimal conditions" and used them basically as a guide - if it's low consumption/100k it's good, but don't expect it to be as low as advertised. Having said that, we're still amazed at the fuel...

Shocking delivery move leaves parcels stranded minutes from home

When AP stuffs up, it does a magnificent job of it. Two examples: two parcels, one snail mail from Canberra, one express post from Melbourne. Canberra parcel arrived within 48 hours. Express post took over 3 weeks. Somehow it was lost in Melbourne GPO... Then there was the purchase...

Wait, what’s this bin for? FOGO rollout leaves some residents guessing

I just wish our council would support any recycling program!

Locals are demanding tree removals—should councils listen or hold the line?

Looking over - or even just at - trees strikes me as a better option than staring at a city skyline!
