21 KMD stores are closing, but they promise a revamp that could change Aussie retail forever

Yes, but shares fell by 50%, enough to send any company into a tail spin. Shareholders would be screaming blue murder.

Government’s clever trick: How a pension boost hides a pension cut

Yes, great isn't it. No incentive to save in this country.

    Age Pensioners going overseas

More and more BS and Red tape. I often wonder how much the administration of all these ridiculous rules and regulations cost the taxpayer, compared to how much it actually saves. On my recent trip to Bali my girlfriend and I were discussing that it is no wonder so many pensioners move you Bali...

Government’s clever trick: How a pension boost hides a pension cut

$300,000 invested, as they said, wipes out your whole pension rise so you are helping to support yourself but you actually end up no better off than those who have no funds. This government certainly doesn't encourage people to save for their old age, you might as well not bother.

Battery installers boycott 'nightmare' WA rebate scheme, causing customer delays

The exact reason why I went ahead without the state subsidy. Their whole system is a complete shamozzle. For a $1300 subsidy you are letting Synergy hijack your stored energy whenever they feel the need, irregardless of whether or not you may require that stored power yourself. What a rort.

Qualified seniors are getting rejected from energy loans by government—what's happening?

I have a 20kw battery backup on order. I qualified for the $5,000 federal subsidy but decided to give applying for the WA state govt subsidy a miss after the solar company explained to me the fact that for the $1300 subsidy offered you had to sign a contract with Synergy allowing them to draw...

Research reveals baby boomers, retirees invest in cryptocurrency

Totally agree, it has nothing backing it. Depending on others to keep buying. If that's not a Ponzi scheme then I don't know what is.

Centrelink payments raise questions after long-term welfare revelation

They did say he had mental health problems, so perhaps he qualified on those grounds. Though once again it is still really hard to get. My ex suffered from bipolar disorder and had many radical ideas, definitely thought that the law didn’t apply to him. He would go manic on occasions and I...

Thank you, just banked my second $500. I really have to stick at it now or I'll never live it down, lol.

Centrelink payments raise questions after long-term welfare revelation

It's a double edged sword. The disability pension is hard to get, if you're grnuine. You have to jump through so many hoops It's ridiculous My daughter was born with a disability and I was paid what was called a handicapped child allowance in those days. What should have been an easy matter...

Celebrity chef skin cancer scare dishes up warning for Aussie seniors

I prefer to have mine scrapped out. Since moving to the country my Dr cuts them out which means stitches. I have lost count also. I said 50 but it's probably more. I've been lucky in as far as all have been BCCs only had one SCC.

Aussies embrace 'No Spend September' as spring brings fresh opportunities

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I've been very naughty this last 12 months. I've got more clothes than anyone possibly needs. Two wardrobes and I can't shut the doors My girlfriend and I had a good talk to ourselves while we were on holiday and made the $500/ft plan so here goes.

No toilets, no dignity—here's why an older traveller was forced to wet herself mid-flight

I never use toilets on transport. I always make sure I go before I leave. Was surprised on my recent return from Bali to see about 6 people lining up for the toilet straight after takeoff.

Aussies embrace 'No Spend September' as spring brings fresh opportunities

A few years ago I was having a discussion with my husband on ways to decrease expenses (mainly aimed at him and his cigarettes). I pointed out that I spent nowhere near that amount on myself which seemed a bit unfair. The outcome was that we would both have $50 each a fortnight to do with as we...

Tasmanian caravan park won't let terminally ill resident sell home to fund treatment

On further reflection, this lady would be wiser to hang onto her home, where she has been happily living for 14 years. Why does she need to sell her home to fund her treatment. You can get excellent cancer treatment in public hospitals for free.

Tasmanian caravan park won't let terminally ill resident sell home to fund treatment

What a terrible situation for this woman to be in. I don’t understand the rules and regulations regarding caravan parks. For years many people lived permanently in caravan parks. Who were they hurting. Then the powers that be decided this was no longer allowed and in most caravan parks you...

Celebrity chef skin cancer scare dishes up warning for Aussie seniors

Exactly, for heaven's sake. I have never sun-baked in my life but have had over 50 basal cell carcinomas removed, starting in my early 30s and have three more being removed this Friday. I can understand on my face and my arms , shoulders etc because I did a lot of horse riding but my legs...
